first day

"Nagini, call me when you get settled in your dorm room." My mum says from the driver's seat, "And don't forget to eat the lunch I made for you today!"

My mom's car is parked outside of the front gate of my new boarding school and I had just climbed out of the passenger seat with my emerald colored travel bag in my hand and my grey backpack on my back.

I nod at her reassuringly. "Don't worry mom, I won't forget."

My mom smiles, and I get a glimpse of her vampire fangs. I smile back at her as she drives away. Then I walk to the gate in my brown boots and stand next to it, go on my phone, and wait for my two best friends so that we could go to class together on this first day of junior year in Diamond Vale Senior High School.

My mom is very beautiful and it's hard to imagine she's my mom. She has burnt orange hair with the same eye color as me, dark green, the only trait I have from her, except me being part vampire that is. She is a Pureblood Vampire, from one of the rarest Pureblood families out there. There aren't many Pureblood or Purebreed families still existing as many people are marrying people from other races.

My mom's family is of high social standard and they wanted my mom to marry a man from another Pureblood Vampire family. Being the the rebel she is, my mom refused to marry a guy she "never met" (even though he was her childhood friend) and was already secretly in a relationship with my dad, a Rakshasa. They eloped (as my dad's side of the family was apparently not the accepting-all-races-into-the-bloodline type of family as well) and then when my older brother was born, my parents came back to their families, presenting the newborn baby as a harmless being and not a future monster. Apparently, hybrid babies are not...normal. Most of the time, they come out okay, but there are those rare times in which the baby doesn't come out right and is usually the family's downfall when it gets older because of it's immense raw power. Those types of babies, when grown, are not able to control their abilities and go berserk from the power of being a hybrid born wrong. Anyway, so when the families saw that little innocent face of my older brother, their hearts softened and they accepted my family reluctantly.

I had to admit, I was kinda scared at first...being a hybrid. The thing is, every hybrid goes berserk in their lifetime but the difference is: the hybrids born wrong from the start go berserk way faster than the hybrids born right. The hybrids born right go berserk at the end of their lives. So basically, wrong hybrids go berserk, leading to their deaths while right hybrids go berserk at the time of their deaths...if that makes any sense.

I look up from my cell phone just in time to see Esther come out of her sleek black limo with her shiny red travel bag and her black backpack. The limo drives away and she smiles as she walks up to me. I give her a big smile and look over her shoulder to see Mythily walking towards us with her bright pink travel bag in hand and her brown backpack on her back. They come up to me, smiling brightly.

"Hey Esther, Mythily!" I say smiling widely. "So, ready for the first day of school?"

"Yeah." Esther replies. "I even wore the clothes you wanted me and Mythily to wear."

Mythily nods, "Yes, I wore the clothes as well."

I look at their outfits and smile. They really were wearing the clothes I had asked them to wear a few days ago. I'd wanted us to wear similar clothes on our first day of senior high school just for the fun of it and they really did wear them! I'm so glad right now. I knew my friends wouldn't let me down!

"Thanks so much!" I exclaim, beaming at them. We walk through the gates and start to slowly walk towards the dorm rooms. There were many students milling around campus already. They had probably come early to check out their dorm rooms. This high school was kinda like college as far as the option for dorms went. You either stayed in a dorm with someone or went home after school. Since DVSHS was a bit far away from the populated areas, most people stayed in the dorms. Me and my friends included.
