remember the past

it's been two days since I joined Theren and Fang on their journey to clear our homeland of the rooks and crows,bandits ,mutated creatures etc and it brings back a lot of memories of when I first joined up with him the first time we joined the rangers he's still the same stubborn brother he was 20 years ago hell looks like his age has caught up to him.

back in those days with the rangers Theren was always stubborn and specific with how he handled the job assignments that were given to him hell he was that specific he even got to the point were he would literally show you how he wanted the job done whether it was shoot on sight or taking out targets quietly he'd make sure that the job was done his way and that no one was left alive when the job was done due to the fact he wanted to make sure no one followed them back to base or remembered what he and I looked like.

I remember the first job assignment we first received it was an assassination contract on a high ranking officer from the Rooks faction he was staying at Hagglers creek, heavily guarded ,no entry points with only one vantage point that had a good view of the target the contract had one weird requirement though " One shot, no alerted guards quick and quiet".

Theren was the first to receive the assignment since he handled all assignments and made sure they suited our way we worked he came up to me while I was practicing my aim with my trust rifle VICK.

"just got our assignment its an assassination on a high ranking Rook officer"

he said to me whilst standing next to me while leaning on a pile sand bags.

"where's it at and any info or requirements on it we need to know"

I said whilst still practicing my shooting.

"yep right here Hagglers creek a thieves den the targets heavily guarded with no entry points into the targets building it has one vantage point with a view of the target the requirements though are it needs to be done Quickly and quietly no guards alerted and has to be "

Theren stop on the last word of the requirements when he's like this I always get a feeling its something we ain't going to like.

"Theren what is the requirement and be honest with me we both know it ain't gonna be good for the both of us"

Theren knew i was right hell he always knew that since he first met me without hesitation he said.

"one shot only"

When he said that it didn't seem faze me one bit since my shots were always dead on but for Theren he had never had a assignment with this kind of requirement ever.

"so who will take the shot and who's gonna guard the shooter ?"

Theren thought about for a minute while I finished up my practice and started to pick up my equipment that I had on the table next to me and cleaned up the empty shell cartridges that had covered the ground underneath me.

"you can take a go at killing the target me and Fang will guard you and make sure no one tries to ambush us just make the bullet count ok?"

After I cleaned up the shells and gathered up my equipment I turned to face Theren and without even a single look of concern on my face I said.

" alright I'll take it but I wanna make sure that no one finds a way to trace what we do back to us so do you know anyone who is able to make the targets building "disappear" ounce we finish what we do?"

Theren thought about it and then said to me.

"yes I do I have a friend who owes me a favour for a job I did for them a while ago he's a pyro maniac he'll know what to do.
