I sat on the edge of my bed as I heard screaming and yelling. My face was buried in my hands. I winced every time I heard a muffled yell of a voice I was sure was Blake. After that I would hear a scream or groan come from Benny.

I shuffled my awkward-casted feet as I listened. Soon, my thoughts drifted off...

"Mom!" I moaned. "Stop stressing. I got this. Please let me finish."

My mom scoffed. "Jordyn, your project is due tomorrow!"

"I know!" I said, my voice cracking. "Just leave me be and I'll get it done!"

"Fine, but when you fail, don't blame me."

I stood up. "Mommy, please dont stress. It worries me that you don't think I can do this by myself. Just let me grow out of this."

I walked around the crowded yard at the crawfish boil. I never saw so many people at my house...

I looked over to my mom and all of her friends setting up tables with sweet tea and lemonade. My dad was across the yard with my uncles and his best friends gathered around that fryer thing for the shrimp and crawfish.

I skipped over to my mom. "Mommy, do you need me to do anything?" I asked. She looked down at me with an excited. "Jordyn, you keep your cat away from the food, alright?" She laughed as my cat, panther, followed me.

I giggled. "Okie dokie!"

I smiled as I saw that everyone had fun.

I giggled and I swung around with my dad on the dance floor. That man could not dance.

"Oh Mandy! You came and you gave without taking!"

Or sing for that matter.

I hugged him tightly as we sung and danced, singing our favorite Barry Manilow song at our cousins wedding. He spun me around and dipped me and attempted to keep his balance."

We laughed as we sweatily exited the dance floor.

"What the shit?" My dad chuckled. "That wasn't even Barry Manilow. Who the hell was that?"

"Micheal Buble!"

...............................................

I snuggled with my mom as we watched the Sound of Music. Our favorite part was coming up: when Captain Von Trapp would bring out his guitar and start singing Eidelwiess with his daughter. My mom hugged me as she let a tear slip out of her eye.

"My grandmother and I would sing this all the time," she sniffled as we sang it together.

"Edelweiss, Edelweiss

Every morning you greet me

Small and white clean and bright

You look happy to meet me

Blossom of snow may you bloom and grow

Bloom and grow forever

Edelweiss,Edelweiss

Bless my homeland forever.

I sung to myself quietly as I cried and looked up at the dark ceiling. I was in a mansion of a house in the biggest room, but I felt like I was in a jail cell. I wanted my mom and dad. I wanted my old life back. To think, if I had never run away that day...

The door opened as the two men I now lived with walked in. Blake's hands were covered and blood, while all of of Benny was.

"What do you say, Benny?" Blake growled.

"I'm sorry," he weakly choked as blood dripped from his mouth.

Blake nodded and walked up to me, gently grabbing my heavy hand in its cast. "I'm sorry he hurt you, princess." He looked back at Benny when I gave a look of surprise.

"Leave us Ben."

Benny weakly walked away, hanging his head.

Blake then turned back to me.

"Jordyn, I need to say something. Something I shouldn't. I shouldn't even be thinking about this."

I sat on my bed, confused. "What do you mean, Blake."

"Jordyn, I'm in love with you."
