Drip.

Drip.

Drip.

I stared at the tap in front of me, water dripping from it's mouth. It echoes, almost deafening, against the still silence of the room. The water overflowing out of the tub and spilling onto the floor. The flickering of the light and the annoying buzz that followed with it tries to entice me to sleep. Of course, I resisted. Not now anyway. Not yet.

I pulled my knees closer to my chest, shivering from the cold; My cracked and dry lips on the soft skin of my knees. My eyes grow heavier with each passing moment as I watch the water surrounding me, dying in crimson red from my blood.

How did I end up in this situation anyway? I looked at the bruises and small cuts on myself that I hadn't noticed until now. The ones on my wrists seemed to be the more recent, I thought as I touched them, admiring the blue-black hue they produced. As though someone grabbed me.

I sat in silence a moment longer before getting out of the tub. The squeaky sound of my steps amused me a little. I watched as the water drained down the black hole of the tub, spiralling into the drainage system, mixing my blood and filth with the other waste that was there.

With each step, I felt a piece of me was going to lose it, bit by bit. I took the towel and dried myself. Patting my skin dry where the bruises were. I flinched with every bruise and cuts that my towel came into contact to. Somehow, I managed to dry myself without the cuts bleeding again.

I stood in front of the mirror, naked, as I examined myself. There were bruises almost everywhere on me. I looked at myself, disgusted yet sympathetic of my situation. I began to laugh. I laughed and I laughed. Before long, I felt something wet. I looked into the mirror. Tears?

How weird. I don't think I've ever cried since then. Why was I crying now? More tears started to flow.

"How pitiful."

"Look at you. Disgusting. Filth."

- Stop.

"HOW COULD YOU?! HOW DARE YOU!!"

"You were a mistake. I should've gotten rid of you."

- Please. Just stop.

"How low can you go? I can't believe you. I TRUSTED YOU."

"WHORE"

- JUST SHUT THE FUCK UP!!

For a moment, it was all black. Next thing I knew, the mirror was shattered and my right hand was dripping with blood. I stared at it, taking a few steps back till I felt the door at my back. I began laughing at myself for my stupidity, before sadness and misery engulfed me. As the tears spilled from my eyes, I slid down the door in defeat. The coldness of the floor against my bare ass was only helping it. And I cried. I cried for what it was worth, the first time I've cried since I was a child.
