Alex slowly stood up, Walking calmly towards the double doors of the drama studio. He pushed one open, relishing in the fresh breeze that filtered in. It was lightly raining, not enough that you would need to run for cover, but enough that some of the girls walking just behind him shrieked "Arrgghh! my hair, it will be ruined!"
"My platinum dye didn't say it was waterproof! my horrid Chesnutt hair will be revealed! Arrgghhh!"
Ignoring the screams of horror from behind him, Alex thought back to the jungles of South America. Now that was rain. Especially in the middle of monsoon season, when there is no need for a forecast because its rain, rain, rain and oh, look at that. Rain. Stepping out under the light sprinkle of 'deadly' rain, as the nattering pupils called it, Alex headed towards the far entrance, over to his left, and joined the panicked queue. He stepped into the crowded school auditorium, sliding into the back row next to a very over-excited Tom. "What do you think its about? is it that time I accidently flooded the boys bathroom? I didn't mean to, I swear! Oh Alex, help me, if they know it's me I shall never be seen again!" Tom whispered in an obviously over-dramatic tone.
"Tom, don't worry, it won't be about you flooding the bathrooms, they wouldn't call the whole school here for that, would they? Besides, that was months ago. I think it's about Remembrance Day tomorrow." Alex sighed. Sometimes Tom rushed to conclusions too quickly.
"Oh, uh, right. That. "Tom felt embarrassed that he hadn't thought of something quite that simple.
"Settle down, children, settle down." Conversations slowly came to a halt. "Now, as most of you know, tomorrow is Remembrance Day, a day to commemorate the lives lost in World War One. We are holding a special parade in school, where we will gather together on the field at quarter to eleven, and march towards the centre of London.
"At eleven o'clock we will stand silently for two minutes, then head back to school for lunch. We have sent out permission forms, and all of your parents and guardians have agreed to it. Now, there will be a bit of a twist. I know a lot of you are in several groups, like Scouts or Duke of Edinburgh." a group of the kids who were socially accepted as 'cool' smirked and grinned at each other. So, Duke of Edinburgh then.
"As a tribute to the soldiers, you can wear your uniforms tomorrow, no need to bring school clothes. Please, bring all your badges and accessories required, no need to leave them at home in a dusty draw! so please, wear all your uniform and accessories, hats, badges, everything you would wear on your particular program or activity!"
The headmaster, Mr Bray, looked excited at the prospect of having several boys in Uniform at the front of his parade. What he had not told them, however, was that several soldiers from an elite training camp would be parading with them, leading them around. The reason he hadn't told them was that there was always the chance they would be called out to for an Operation in a different country, as often happened when your dealing with elite soldiers, so it was better not to get the students hopes up. The unit was currently on the last week of their leave, after two unit members were shot.
"That sounds awesome!" Tom whispered. "we get to march around London and miss Spanish! Alex? Uh, Alex?" Tom waved his hand in front of Alexs face, bringing him out of his reverie.
"oh, uh, yeah. Awesome" Alex certainly didn't sound like it was awesome. Tom picked it up as after years of being Alexs friend he had rubbed of on him.
"Come on mate! Be excited for once, yeah? At least make an effort. Please?" Toms puppy dog eyes made Alex smile, it had been years since Tom had played the innocent child card. "Somethings up, isn't it? is it MI6? I'm gonna kill them one day. Who's their head, Blunt? I bet theirs a lapse in security somewhere, there always is..." Tom trailed off, thinking about when he should kill or permanently maim Blunt.
"Tom, theres no lapse, I've already hacked into the system to find his schedule, and the guards. Smithers also told me of his gadgets and trust me, we are not getting past them. But yes, somethings up, and yes, it's MI6 related." They were well on their way to Maths by now, and it was still drizzling. The rest of the walk was carried out in silence as the two boys continued trying to find flaws in Alan Blunts security.
Maths passed by quickly enough, and soon it was the end of the day, but a mere ten minutes after Alex left school for the day his phone rang, and Alex instantly recognised the James Bond ringtone set to The Royal & General. Tom had stolen his phone and set the ringtones, and Alex had decided that it was too ironic to change. Sighing, he picked up the iPhone, listening to an employee speak cautiously down the line.
"Umm, Mr Rider? There's a problem with your account, we think there has been a security breech,
could you please come in as soon as your available? We would like to speak with you. Good Day." It was definitely a new girl; she had the uncertainty of all employees on their first day of a new, high-paying job. She knew she could not afford to mess this up. Alex promptly confirmed this and hung up on them. I mean, they deserved it. They'd definitely ruined his life enough that he had the right to hang up on them. Multiple times. Over and over again. Yep, they were that bad.--Authors Note---Authors Note---Authors Note--
