Chapter 8- Sin Flowers

// Author Note: BEWARE. This chapter is long because Sans and Teddy have a long talk about the history and theories of Sin flowers. //

The children continue to go onwards with their adventure as they stumble onto California Poppy's puzzles and Sans' advice. They finally reach a small and quaint town. They notice a colorful and bright sign saying 'SNOWDIN TOWN'. They walk ahead and notice a bright yellow star hovering over the snow in between a shop and an inn. They walk up to it and Aki touches the star. A small message pops up. ( The sight of such a friendly town fills you with determination. HP fully restored. ) Aki then touches the SAVE button. Chara goes up to the box beside it and opens it. "Now I believe we need it." Chara says as she puts Nice Creams into the box and closes it. "Hey, wanna go check out the shop?" Aki says standing in front of the entrance of the Shop. Chara and Teddy nod as they go inside. They look around in the shop then they come out with a couple of Cinnamon Buns and Aki wearing a Manly bandana. "My god, you know how dumb you look with that on?" Chara says to Aki with a chuckle. "Hey! I look manly~" Aki says as she dramatically flips her hair. Teddy giggles and so does the other two. "O-okay, no more g-goofing around... We gotta go" Chara says as she is still laughing, putting the cinnamon buns into the box as well. The girls then notice a small igloo on the side of the Inn. They go inside and it suddenly takes them to the end of Snowdin Town.
They walk onward as the wind gets more cold and their vision gets more blurry by the frostbite. Then they stop as they see a shadow ahead. "HUMANS. ALLOW ME TO TELL YOU ABOUT SOME COMPLEX FEELINGS. FEELINGS LIKE... THE JOY OF FINDING ANOTHER PASTA LOVER. THE ADMIRATION FOR ANOTHER'S PUZZLE-SOLVING SKILLS. THE DESIRE TO HAVE A COOL, SMART PERSON THINK YOU ARE COOL. THESE FEELINGS... THEY MUST BE WHAT YOU ARE FEELING RIGHT NOW!!! I CAN HARDLY IMAGINE WHAT IT MUST BE LIKE TO FEEL THAT WAY. AFTER ALL, I AM VERY GREAT. I DON'T EVER WONDER WHAT HAVING LOTS OF FRIENDS IS LIKE. I PITY YOU... LONELY HUMANS... WORRY NOT!!! YOU SHALL BE LONELY NO LONGER! I, THE GREAT CALIFORNIA POPPY WILL BE YOUR..." California Poppy hesitates for a moment. "...NO. NO, THIS IS ALL WRONG! I CANT BE YOUR FRIEND!!! YOU ARE HUMANS!!! I MUST CAPTURE YOU!!! THEN, I CAN FULFILL MY LIFELONG DREAM!!! POWERFUL! POPULAR! PRESTIGIOUS!!! THAT'S CALIFORNIA POPPY!!! THE NEWEST MEMBER... OF THE ROYAL GUARD!" California Poppy says as the area goes pitch black.
He stands in a heroic stance, blocking the way as he gets bones prepared for battle. Chara growls to herself and pulls out her blade. "Uhh... Chara? What are you doing?" Aki says, confused. Chara doesn't reply as she slowly goes up to California Poppy, grinning darkly. California Poppy looks down at Chara a bit nervously. "H-HUMAN...?" California Poppy says as he slowly backs away. Chara continues to get closer to him and then swings her place. But wait... Who saved him? Teddy pushed California Poppy out the way and Aki took the blade from Chara. Teddy notices a cut on her sweater that went deep into her arm from Chara's blade. Teddy falls on her knees as she holds her wound. California Poppy's eyesockets widen. "H-HUMAN, ARE YOU ALRIGHT?!?!!!??" California Poppy says as he kneels down with Teddy. Aki looks at Chara with a disgusted look. "What was that for?!? You see, you hurt you little sister because of your genocidal stupidity!" Aki sighs and looks down."Chara, killing is not going to solve anything... You only made it worst." Aki says under her breath. "I-im sorry..." Chara says weakly and looks down at her bloody blade, noticing more butterscotch flowers grow gradually on it, also on her hand. Pecheur looks up at Teddy and then shape shifts into a bandage when nobody is looking to cover her wound. Teddy smiles a bit and closes her eyes. The flowers on Chara's blade when cutting her caused Teddy to feel dizzy so she fainted but just in time California Poppy caught her. Aki looks up and then runs over to Teddy and him while Chara just stands there, feeling guilty. "Teddy!" Aki yells. California Poppy picks up Teddy. "I-is she going to be alright?" Aki asks him. "I-I DONT KNOW... I HAVE NEVER SEEN SOMETHING LIKE THIS BEFORE... BUT WORRY NOT! I WILL TAKE HER TO MY BROTHER AND HE MAY KNOW WHAT TO DO!" California Poppy says. "Okay... I trust you." Aki says calmly. " BE RIGHT BACK." California Poppy says as he runs to his house and kicks the door open.
"BLUE ROSE!!! I NEED HELP! A HUMAN IS INJURED!!!" California Poppy yells with Teddy in his arms. Sans runs out of his room. "what's wrong, bro?!" Sans panics a bit and notices Teddy injured. "W-what happened to her?!" Sans asks. "I-I DONT KNOW... BUT ONE OF HER SISTERS HAD A BLADE AND TRIED TO STAB ME... BUT SHE JUMPED IN THE WAY AND SAVED ME... AFTER THAT SHE GOT DIZZY AND PASSED OUT." California Poppy says. Sans eyesocket widens and then grabs Teddy from his arms. "well... don't worry bro. I got this, you can go back to whatever you were doing." Sans says as he takes teddy to his room and closes the door. California Poppy sighs of relief and goes back to Aki and Chara. "So... What happened?" Aki looks at him. Chara continued to stay silent and feel guilty. "WELL... SHE IS IN GOOD HANDS SO DONT PANIC." California Poppy says as he puts his hand on her shoulder. "SHE WILL BE OKAY." He smiles at her. Aki hesitates and nods slowly. "WELL... I HAVE BUSINESS I MUST ATTEND TO. SO BE CAREFUL." California Poppy says as he walks away. Aki goes to Chara. "Come on...let's go." Aki says softy. Chara nods a bit as they both walk off. Meanwhile, Sans carries Teddy to his bed. Sans notices an odd bandage on her wound so he reaches his hand out to it. Pecheur then reacts and shape shifts into his ghost and hisses at Sans. Sans gasp and observes him. "W-what the..?" Sans says quietly. Pecheur glares at him. "chill out little guy.. i ain't gonna hurt her. i'm trying to help." Sans says as he observes her wound. Teddy feels movement and her eyes open a bit. "awake, I see? that's good." Sans says and looks at her. "W-what happened..?" Teddy says softly as she sits up. "my bro said that you randomly blacked out. also, who is this?" Sans says as he points at Pecheur. Pecheur hides behind Teddy. "W-well.. He didn't want people to see him but since you did and I trust you in not telling anyone... I'll tell you." Teddy says as Pecheur peeks out then lays on her head.
"This is Pecheur Fonce, Pecheur for short. I met him in the RUINS... He was just lying there in a pile of red leaves. I grabbed him because it seemed like he was alone. Now he is my pet. He is overprotective though..." Teddy says as Sans studies Pecheur. "interesting... well, are you feeling any better?" Sans asks. Teddy nods and Pecheur shape-shifts back to a scarf. "Well...wanna go to grillby's? i'm on break right now." Sans ask as he reaches his hand out to hers. Teddy smiles and grabs his hand. "I know a short cut." Sans says as he walks out the room with her and teleports to grillbys. Teddy looks around. Sans says hi to everyone then leads her to sit down. Sans looks at Teddy. "so... I wanted to talk to you about something." Sans says as the place goes dark. Teddy looks back at him.
"Have you ever heard of a 'Dark Sinner'?" Sans asks, staring at Teddy. Teddy thinks to herself but shakes her head no. " i heard that it's a creature that can possess whatever it wants and use them to fulfill its needs and desires, whenever it does take control over the person or monster, it creates 'sin flowers' all over the person/monster's body which could damage their soul and make them weak... i'm still trying to figure out more about it but wherever I look, it's unknown. Anyway, i forgot to you mention earlier about sin flowers. so, every human and monster are known for something, and that is their signature flower. whenever that person does a sin, such as murder; a special flower grows on them. As you asked earlier, i'm known as blue rose because of this little fella." Sans says as he points at the blue rose on one of his eyesockets. "So.. your brother's name isn't actually California Poppy? That is just his signature flower/name that he goes by?" Teddy asks. "precisely. everyone in the underground except me don't remember their names." Sans says. "And why is that?" Teddy asks. "because the sin flowers that they grow screw with their memory. I only got this one so I'm not harmed in any way." Sans says as he thinks. " it seems like you haven't done a sin. keep that up kid." Sans says while looking at Teddy. "yeah... Wait, so do my sisters and i have to go by our signature flower?" Teddy asks. "yes." Sans replies. "So my big sister would go by 'Myosotis' and my other sister would go by 'Butterscotch'? But.. Since I haven't sinned yet... What do i go by? I don't know what my signature flower is..." Teddy thinks. Sans thinks as well then looks at Pecheur. "when you met Pecheur, was he shape-shifted as a flower?" Sans asks then looks back at Teddy. "Actually, yes he was. He was shape-shifted as a Black Rose." Teddy says. "then there you go. you will go by Black Rose." Sans says. "Okay then, so you want me and my sisters to call you by 'Blue Rose'?" Teddy tilts her head a bit. "yeah, I don't want anyone else getting confused or curious about our real names." Sans says.
"Looks like we talked longer than I expected. Welp, I got to get back to work. you should get going also because I'm positive your sisters are worried about ya, see ya soon... Black rose." Sans says as he winks at Teddy and walks out of grillbys. Teddy walks out also and walks back to where she was last located with Aki and Chara. She noticed that they weren't there so she walks onward to see if they were somewhere around. Teddy walked and Pecheur shape-shifts into a black rose and lays on her head. Teddy giggles and thinks about what Sans... well 'Blue Rose' said to her at grillbys. She is now heading to Waterfall to find her sisters.
