FAYS POV

it wasn't an unusual town, I just wasn't used to it. my family was military, always moving, always changeing.

the last place we lived was the best by far. we stayed there longer then usual & I actually ended up with a boyfriend. its not that I wasn't appealing enough to have a boyfriend, I actually seemed to attract most guys, it just never felt right.

last year was weird, going to
a new school half way through my sophmore year. the first day I made a few friends, but I wasn't nervous. I was never nervous, until the star short stop of my schools baseball team tapped on my shoulder in the cafateria. I turned around expecting to find a familiar face, someone I was close with, not the upperclassmen I always admired from
a distance.

being the girl I am, I'm naturally attracted to baseball players, preferably tall & muscular. when he met my eyes I swear a small gasp escaped my lips but I quickly re gained myself. I was Completely & totally disappointed when he simply asked "hey fay, all my contacts got deleted, & I lost your brothers, & he isn't here today, do you know it?"
of course, I awnsered with his contact number but was a bit startled by his next question "um, can you maybe add your number as well?"

ah. my big brother captain of the baseball & football team no matter were we moved. his name was dalton, & actually it's because of him everyone calls me Fay.

I wasn't given the name fay, but actually tiffany, & apparently dalt has been referring to his baby sister as fay since I was born, & it just sort of stuck.

no matter were we moved or who awaited our arrival in the new towns, dalt & always gained a large crowd of friends, quickly. people sort of took notice of us I guess you could say. I understand dalt with his dark hair & dark green eyes, and his insainly athletic built, not to mention that he is 6'3. i know that dalt sounds like the kind of kid that plays every girl at every school we go to, but it's actually the opposite. he is always winking at a new girl or delivering sly grins across a classroom, but he never just hooks up with a girl to do it. he's actually really reluctant to date & dosnt usually date anyone for that matter. he has had a few girl friends & actually all of those girls were on the more popular side but not the ones you notice right away. dalt always seemed to go for the girl that resisted him the most.

he didn't get to close to any girls, except lauren. she was beautiful in my opinion. olive skin, gray eyes, & her beautiful brown curls. her & dalt were so In love, it was awful to watch them say goodbye.

anyway, I dated trever, the shortstop I was talking about earlier, & I really liked him, & we had the best time together, but something just always felt off, I always had my doubts. my guy feeling was right, Trevor was an asshole, & I caught him makeing out behind the school with some random
girl, & I promptly gave him a black eye, & left the rest to dalt.

now that we are moving away from maryland, & to some small town on the beach in florida, I was ready to forget that life & move on.

the move was easy, but it was the first day that wasn't such a breeze. my hair didn't seem to want to cooperate with me that morning, & everything I tried on looked wrong. after about a hour of straitening & combing my thick locks of dirty blonde hair fell a few inches above my belly button, & I decided to just wear my favorite jean shorts, which, in my mothers opinion, were too short, & a Lacey bandeau that was almost completly exposed under & lose fited cropped tank top. I decided to skip the bus ride & decided instead to
venture off on my bike. I made my way to school, eventually, but was side tracked on my way.

I happened to come across a single field of dirt, surrounded by clean cut grass, lined perfectly with white chalk & bases. with this diamond being within walking distance of my new house, i knew where I would
be spending my days. I snapped a quick picture of the field & sent it in a group message to dalt, & my parents.

I arrived at school with enough time to try & find my locker, but still ran late to my first class. even though it was my favorite class, I was hesitant about opening the door. first period: creative writing. I stepped into the classroom expecting to be surrounded by Aton of quiet kids who burried their heads in notebooks scribbling words on paper, Because that's what all of my previous writing classes comsidted of.

after a deep breath, I gained enough courage to step Into my first class in my new town, & stopped dead In my tracks as the entire class met my eyes at the sound of the door creaking. I was wrong about my classmates, instead I found an entire class of boys, minus the one other girl in the back corner bent over a book, all wearing matching jerseys. I would know the sight of a baseball team anywhere, & that is exactly what sat infront of me.

I quickly glanced at the boys surrounding me, some tall, some short, some upperclassmen, some lowerclassmen, but they all had one thing in common. every single one of there eyes was scanning my body from
head to toe. I confidently took slow strides to the front of the class to apologize to the teacher & instantly discovered he was the baseball coach, which helps explain the entire team being in the same class.

he directed me to sit next to a boy who
wasn't the most attractive of sorts, but seemed like a nice friend to make on the first day. this boy sat in the very back, so my walk to the last row was an interesting one. I watched as the entire team scanned my entire body once more, some giving small comments, some not. I instantly regretted wearing such short shorts & looked down to realize that my beach tank too had basically completely exposed my bandeau. I finally reached the open seat in the back row of the room, & sat down.

the boy introduced himself as nick, & smiled at me. just as I was about to introduce myself to nick, mr. walters, our teacher, asked me to present myself to the class. I promptly stood up & introduced myself.

"hi guys." I smiled. "I'm fay, & I just moved here from Maryland & it's my first day here." I finished.

I looked to mr. Walters waiting to be told to sit & was awnsered by him speaking in a booming, coach sort of manor asking each boy to introduce himself.

they stood up one by one saying there name, occasionally winking, occasionally slipping me a sly smirk. I just laughed.

I will admit, a few of the players were attractive, but most not really tall enough, considering my long but lanky Frame. I stood at 5'7.5 & had longer legs then most. I quickly dismissed the thought of flirting with them, until my attention was directed towards a boy I seemed to have missed sitting to my right, alone.

he was writing in a notebook, not glanceing at his teammates but looked up when his coach cleared his throat In an attemt to get his attention.

"as the captain, don't you think you should introduce yourself?" pressed the coach

the boy rose from his seat, easily reaching a full 6'2 & I could see his biceps peaking through his practice jersey. "I'm Matt, & as you already heard, I'm captain." he finished with a grin that made my stomach do a flip.

mr. Walters spoke now again saying "we don't have much planned for the day so I'll let all of you socialize for a bit, boys help fay get to know the school."

with that the boys all rose & began speaking to one another, & I turned to nick hopeing for a friend to start off the day.

"hi!" I said calmy.

"welcome to vero." he said grinning.

"thanks" I laughed, making nick smile, "so what's the deTails on some of these guys?" I asked gesturing to his team mates.

nick went through the list of boys, repeating their name & giving me small details about each.

once we made our way around the room to Matt nick started with "as you know that is matt, our captain, and don't even think about it."

I was taken back by his comment & have him a confused look.

nick grinned "i know exactly what you are thinking, he's tall, & mysterious, not to mention a kick ass center fielder. but don't even try, this whole team hasn't seem Matt take real interest in a girl since freshman year."

it was like nick read my mind, all I could think about was getting to know matt, & what was in his notebook.
