Chapter One

A young, brown haired Hispanic boy looks around. He couldn't believe his surroundings. He was standing in the middle of Stanley University, one of the most famous colleges in the world. It was a miracle he had even got in. He sighed and started walking towards the auditorium for Freshman orientation.

On his way, he passed a pole with flyers taped to it. Most of them were for sororities and fraternities, but one in particular caught his eye. He stepped closer to read the flyer more clearly. It read:

Room for Rent
$20 a month
Address: 576 Sunflower Ave.
Just outside campus.
Call if interested.

The flyer had a phone number at the bottom. With some thinking, the boy ripped the flyer off the pole, folded it and stuffed it in his pocket. He was going to head to the auditorium when his phone rang. He answered it.

"Danny!"
It was Danny's brother, Marcus.
"Hi, Marcus."
"So, how do you feel?" Marcus said back.
"Honestly, I feel a little happy, nervous and overwhelmed at the same time."
"You'll get over that, I promise. Have you decided about your living arrangements?"
"Well, I found a flyer for a room for rent and I'm gonna go check it out."
"Okay, well, have fun and be safe. Call me if you have any trouble." Marcus sounded nervous.
"I will, thanks. Bye."

Danny hung up and put his phone in his pocket. He was a little overwhelmed by everything he saw. He shook off his nervousness and walked towards the auditorium. He made a decision. He was going to call the number on the flyer.

A/N: I've actually had this idea in my head for a while, but didn't write it down. I knew I had to at least write the first chapter, otherwise I would've lost the idea. I wanted to say a couple of things:
1. I don't know exactly how long this story is going to be.
2. I have the sense of humor of late 2000s and early 2010s sitcoms.
3. I know this chapter is short. The other chapters will be longer.
4. There may be a few references to Broadway musicals that you may not get. I'm such a huge Theatre nerd.

That's it. Thank you for reading.
