Chapter 5: White Horse

"I can explain." Seryosong sabi niya.

After hearing what he just said my right hand instantly landed on his cheek.

I laughed sarcastically at what he said. Is he joking around? How can he say that so casually? Wala ba talaga siyang hiya? Pagkatapos ng nakita ko kahapon, sasabihin niya ngayon na he can explain?

"Are you serious?" I asked while smirking. "I guess sobrang kapal na ng mukha mo. Dahil kasi sa na obserbahan ko parang wala ka nang hiya eh." Sabi ko habang iniiling ko ang aking ulo.

Yumuko nalang siya at hindi nagsalita.

"Isn't this what you wanted? Alam ko namang hindi mo talaga ako minahal eh, laruan lang kasi ako para sayo hindi ba? At first I was still wondering why you were so cold to me, but now it makes sense. For you, I wasn't enough right? That's why you cheated on me." I said coldly.

After what I said he finally lifted his head to face me, tears streaming down his face. "M-mel I'm s-sorry I didn't mean it."

"Ha! You didn't mean it? Ano yun? Coincidence lang na parehas kayong nandon sa mga oras na yun? Aksidente lang na naghalikan kayo sa cafe na yun? Nakakahiya! Nakakadiri kayo! Alam mo naman sigurong public place yun diba? Bakit sa dinami dami nang lugar na pwede kayong maglampungan doon pa talaga sa lugar na maraming taong kumakain. Hindi mo na inisip ang appetite ng mga tao doon, aware ba kayo na nakakasuka yung ginawa niyo doon?" I cringed.

"Mel, please. Please forgive me." he pleaded.

"I didn't exepect you to cry and beg me to come back to you. But I'm so sorry Bryan, you can't fool me twice."

"Mel, I love you. Please believe me. I can't live without you."

"Wag mo nga akong utoin Bryan, hindi mo ako madadala sa mga cheesy lines mo na yan. Buhay ka na before pa kita nakilala kaya alam kong mabubuhay ka nang wala ako." I said sarcastically.

"Besides this woudn't have happened if only you were faithful to me."

"Mel please, I'm begging you. I love you very much."

I smirked and I shook my head.

"No Bryan, if you really love me you wouldn't have cheated." I finally said before turning my back at him. But I was taken aback when he suddenly hugged me from behind.

"Mel,  please give me another chance."
"I'm sorry, but I'm tired being with you.  Let's not hurt each other anymore. It's better if we end this right now. That's the best choice we have." Marahas kung tinanggal ang kamay niya na nakayakap sa akin, at dahan dahang naglakad palayo sa kanya. Bago pa man ako tuluyang makalayo sa kanya ay bigla siyang nagsalita.

"This is not over Mel, I'm not going to give up on us."

NANG makarating ako sa classroom as usual nag kukwentohan nanaman ang mga kaklase ko. Pero nang mapansin nila na pumasok ako napatingin sila sa direksiyon ko at pagkatapos nila akong tignan mula ulo hanggang paa, kanya kanyang bulongan na sila sa mga katabi nila.

So my break up with that asshole was a really big news huh. Even though I know that they were gossiping about me, I just held my head high.

"What are you guys talking about?" I asked coldly.

They went silent after hearing my words, maybe they're not yet used to me being cold.

"I hope you're not talking about me. Cause I'm not really in the mood to punch your ugly faces right now." after saying that I went to my seat. Umupo na ako sa aking upoan at kinalikot ko nalang ang cellphone ko.

"Mel, anong sinabi sayo ni Bryan?" tanong sa akin ni Jane.

"Nothing. He just told me nonsensical shits."

"Oh,  I bet he wanted to explain. Am I right?"

I just sighed at her statement.

She snapped her fingers. "So I was right. That cheater! He don't have any shame at all."

"Jane please, let's not talk about that."

"Oh, ok. I'm going to keep my mouth shut for now."

Habang pinaglalaruan ko ang cellphone ko bigla namang pumasok ang adviser namin.

"Goodmorning class." Ms. Walker greeted.

"Goodmorning ma'am. " The whole class responded.

"Class,  we will be having our intramurals in the next two weeks." She announced.

Nagtilian ang mga kaklase ko dahil sa excitement. Ako? Well, I'm not in the mood to yell in excitement.

"Class! Quite muna ok?" Nanahimik naman ang buong klase.

"This year, may bagong event na naisipan ang student council. Sabi nila magkakaroon daw tayo ng battle of the bands. Pero ang magiging participants lang ay mga grade 11 students. Lahat ng grade 11 sections,  dapat may entry. So kailangan meron rin tayong entry, hindi tayo magpapatalo hindi ba?"

"Yes maam!"

"Ok so, sinong magiging vocalist ninyo dito?" Tanong niya.

"Maam, si Melissa nalang po." Suggest ng isa kung classmate.

Napalingon ang lahat ng kaklase ko sa akin pati na rin ang si Ms. Walker.

"No." I answered plainly.

"Mel, pumayag ka na. Ang ganda kaya ng boses mo." pangkukumbinsi sa akin ni Jane.

"Miss Carter, do you mind giving us a sample of your beautiful voice?" tanong ng teacher namin.

I sighed, wala na akong magagawa. Teacher na ang nagsabi, ayoko namang mapagsabihan ng bastos.

So I stood up. I closed my eyes for a second and breathed.

Yeah, maybe this song really suits me right now. You're now begging for my forgiveness,  you want me to get back to you. But I can't afford to be fooled twice.

When I stoped singing all eyes were on me. They looked like they've seen a ghost. Is my voice that bad? Shit, papatayin ko talaga si Jane pag pinagtawanan ako ng mga kak---

Natigilan ako sa pag iisip nang bigla silang nagpalakpakan at may iba pang tumitili.

" Ms. Carter, I didn't know you have such a beatiful voice." she said while smiling.

" I think our representative is already chosen. Right class." she beemed.

And our class cheered again.
