 Prologue

Today was the day. A brand new start and a brand new life. All that was in the past, was exactly that, the past. Everything was going to be different now. I hoped.

" I'm going to miss you." I turned back towards my house and looked at my best friend Sara.  Her big emerald eys shone with unshed tears and i felt my heart break as a single tear escaped and slid down her cheek. I walked towards her and embraced her in my arms. The tears were now flowing steadily as we stood there, embracing. Every moment of the last 16 years we shared together flowed through the both of us. The memories both good and bad haunted out thoughts as we made our farewell. I stepped away from her and placed my hands on her shoulders and looked her straight in the eyes.

" Sara Conelly, you are my best friend and even though im moving 10 hours away from you, we will always have eachother. In here." I pointed to my heart. " we will always have eachother."Sara gave me a small weak smile,

" Always and forever Hailey."

" Hails, we have to go honey, your moms waiting for us at the airport."

I looked at my dad who was patiently waiting in the car.His auburn hair fell just short of his green eyes. He was handsome but then again, he had an edge to him that caused people to be hesitant to get close to him.

" Yeah, ok dad i'm coming."

I looked at Sara,

" So this is it, huh, this is goodbye." A fresh batch of tears began to stream down my face,

" Ya, i guess it is, promise me you'll write and call me every chance you get. We might be miles apart but your still going to be my best friend." Sara replied, she stepped into my arms and we hugged eachother, neither one of us wanting to let go. My dad beeped the horn and i knew it was time to go. I gave Sara a quick kiss on teh cheek and a final squeezze and then i turned around and  walked to the car.

" Hailey!" I turned around

" Ya Sara?

" Good Luck."

I smiled and nodded my head to her. I climbed into the car and buckled my seat belt. My dad pulled out of the driveway. I waved to Sara and looked past her at my house. The place where i had gotten my first kiss. I looked up to the second story window that used to be my bedroom. The room where Sara,  Heather and I had  hundreds of sleepovers. Memories flooded my brain each one bringing their own tears with them. This had been my home. Everything that had made me who i was today, had happened in  this very town. Many of them in that very house. I turned in my seat and watched as Sara who was still waving became just a blur in the rearview window. Just a chapter in my life, one whom i would never forget and would always love. But even she couldnt have prepared me for what would happen in my new town.
