Dirty Little Secret (Poofless/Rob FF)

Chapter 8

Rob's POV

I exited the room with Nathan behind me.

Nathan: "Hey Rob..."

Rob: "I'm sorry but can we please get out of here first before we do anything or say anything else? It's not that I'm not angry or happy or anything, I just want to get out right now."

Nathan: "Oh... Sure."

I watched as his head directed towards the ground and I knew he probably felt guilty for what happened. He probably blamed himself but in all honesty, Preston was just being a dick. He had no right to argue with Nathan, who the hell did he think he was.

Rob: "Hey are you ok?"

Nathan: "Huh? Oh yeah I'm fine."

Rob: "Are you really though?"

I watched as he looked at me and just smiled. He was always smiling and he looked so beautiful with it too.

Nathan: "Yeah Rob. I'm fine, I promise."

I didn't believe him for a second, Who would when you just got chewed out by someone that you thought was your friend?

Nathan: "Hey, I said I was fine ok? Let's just go and get some lunch like I promised. And we can just forget what happened ok?"

Rob: "I can't just forget what happened. He treated you like shit Nathan, Threatened you and everything. I don't like seeing my friends get hurt or harassed."

Nathan: "It's fine Rob, Trust me."

Rob: "But I can't though, what he did was wrong. Regardless of how you feel about it."

I held his hand in mine as we exited the building. Heading anywhere we could in order to get some food, or to be honest. Anywhere away from Preston.

Nathan: "Rob?"

Rob: "What's up mate?"

I felt him pull his hand from mine as we stopped about 100 meters from the office. He looked nervous and a little scared to be honest.

Nathan: "Are you ok?"

The question caught me off guard to be honest, I didn't really know what to think. It was so matter of fact and yet. It confused me to say the least.

Nathan: "Rob?"

Rob: "Sorry, I'm fine Nathan, Just upset with Preston."

Nathan: "Don't be ok? What he said, It wasn't anything cruel."

Rob: "He had you picked up by the collar. What could he have said to you if it wasn't bad?"

Nathan: "He was just worried about you. Worried about how you were, worried that I would hurt you or make you angry or upset. Rob he really cares about you, and he's your best friend."

Rob: "He harassed you Nathan, Regardless of how we are as friends I can't just let that slide."

I listened to him sigh as he slowly put his hand back in mine.

Nathan: "It's something I have dreamed of for a long time, Holding your hand. Listening to you want to protect me, It's almost like a fairy tale. But while all fairy tales have a happy ending, Sometimes they are filled with twists and turns that no one see's coming."

Rob: "What do you mean?"

Nathan: "I just... It's nothing. Let's go, I'm starting to feel hungry."

I watched as he started to slow down, still dragging me along behind him but no where near as quickly as he was. He seemed to be thinking about something heavily. It got me a little worried, he turned around to face me, a smile adorning his face.

Nathan: "We all go through high and low moments right?"

Rob: "Yeah?"

Nathan: "And there are always moments that make us happy and moments that make us sad."

Rob: "Well yeah but?"

Nathan: "No buts. Let's enjoy Lunch and then head out for the day. Forget this morning even happened?"

Rob: "Oh. Ok sure. Yeah that sounds like fun."

I watched him smile again, Damn this boy has some power over a man. He was gorgeous I can admit that, Honestly i think everyone can. But at the same time... I just have no interest, I never really have or ever will. And it's like he knows it.

Preston's POV

What the fuck is wrong with me? Why the hell would I do that? He was just trying to make Rob smile, just trying to make him happy, and then I go and do something stupid like that?

Landon: "Hey Pres... Woah you look like shit."

I had become secluded in my room, crying my eyes out. I didn't need anyone to come in but god damn it if life didn't just give me a massive middle finger.

Landon: "Preston what the fuck happened to you?"

Preston: "I... Threatened, Nathan. In front of Rob."

Landon: "What because Nathan wanted to take him to lunch?"

I just nodded my head, what the fuck Preston.

Landon: "Preston I need you to answer me very carefully ok. Are you jealous of Nathan being friends with Rob? You know Nathan really likes him right? He just wants to see the man smile."

Preston: "We all do. But I can't anymore. I work so fucking much, so often and I can't take him out anymore to go and do something, I can't pay for a movie and just lounge around."

Landon: "Preston have you spoken to Raquel today?"

Preston: "Not yet i don't think."

Landon: "Why don't you organise to have dinner with her tonight here at the office. You said you were too busy to go places right? Organise dinner here."

Preston: "What about the boys? What if they come back?"

Landon: "I'll keep them out ok I promise. Just have the night to yourselves, be happy and try to forget about today and talk to Rob and Nathan tomorrow ok?"

Preston: "They wouldn't talk to me after what I just did."

Landon: "I'm pretty sure after all this time it wouldn't matter. Rob won't ever go away. No matter what."
