Chapter Eight
Calm down. She told herself this a thousand times, but she couldn’t just simply calm down. Six pairs of eyes were staring at her, and that was already more sets of eyes that stared at her per day.
“Guys, this is Lylah. Lylah, this is Trevor,” Cory pointed to a blond boy wearing an Oakville jersey, “Hayden,” a boy with jetblack hair, “Josh,” a guy who looked at her with intense green eyes, “Ingrid,” a blond girl who had her cheerleading outfit on, “and Kenzie and Cameron, they’re twins,” he nodded to two redheads. Though Lylah already knew who all those people were, she nodded and smiled along.
“Why does Kenzie’s name get to go first? I was born first, AND I’m clearly the hotter one,” Cameron pouted, while Kenzie shot her an apologetic look.
Kenzie shot him a murderous glare, “Shut up, Cam, Mom probably saw your face and needed someone hotter, therefore, two minutes later, I arrived,” Kenzie hissed.
“Just because you didn’t appear to in the x-ray doesn’t mean—“
“It means that God took pity on our family and made Mom have me so that they wouldn’t have to live with the reputation of having an ugly baby,” Kenzie rolled her eyes, ending the argument.
“Hi,” Kenzie glanced at Lylah and smiled warmly while Cameron just murmured, “Stupid miracle baby,” to which Kenzie kicked him under the table.
“Not to sound rude or anything,” all eyes were directed to Josh, who continued to stare at her with those eyes, “But how exactly did Cory find you?” All eyes then shifted to Cory, who flushed and shrugged.
“Saw her in church,” he said simply, taking a seat beside Josh, “Now if any of you will be kind enough to feed me, I’m starv—“
“Hold up,” Trevor held a hand up, “Saw her in church? C’mon, Cory. Even you wouldn’t try to take your next victim in a holy place.”
“I saw her in church, we went out for pizza, now we’re friends.” Cory said simply, looking a bit annoyed.
Lylah opened her mouth to protest that they were not friends, but Ingrid beat her to it.
“Friends?” she shook her head, “Sorry Cory but you just don’t make friends with anyone. Kenzie and I are probably the only girls in this entire school who you wouldn’t make a move on. So, how long is she going to last? “
“Two weeks maybe,” Trevor commented.
“Too long,” Cameron shook his head, “Remember Michelle? We all thought she could do a month, and she only lasted a week.”
