PROLOGUE
There was only one thing that Noah Legace wanted; a fight.
Scott crossly wedged his hockey stick out between the other opponent’s feet, tripping him. The player whirled around in a horizontal three-sixty, sliding against the ice. Scott spun around, hooking the hockey stick into another player’s ice skates, clearing room for Noah to have battleground. Noah’s teammates knew what he wanted, and how to arrange it.
A whistle signaled that the referees had caught Scott’s penalties.
The referee’s whistles blared again, but Noah paid no mind as he continued skating forward. He had a target. And it was the other team. He skated in the middle of the ice rink with his head poised high, staring straight at Manny Ramirez just feet from him.
Noah peeled off his gloves, heaving them to the ground. The audience surged into howls and screams, and still, Noah paid them no mind. Manny let an easy sneer spread on his face and that was all that Noah needed. He flung his iron fist into Manny’s face, sending him catapulting to the ground.
So why, in the midst of the cheering crowd, when fighting was my favorite thing about hockey, did I feel so utterly upset?
