KEVIN MCKENZY POV

"Dad, grandpa is trying to make tagliatelle for dinner. I'm predicting a disaster ahead of us. Hurry up and save the food!" Kyle exclaimed in a dramatic way at the other line of the phone and I let out a chuckle. "Please, tell me that you're on your way home."

Ah, if only I was on my way.

"No, actually," I replied to him. "Tell your grandpa that I'm going to come back home much later. I'm staying at Kevin's for dinner."

"What?! Why?!" He asked me in a high pitch voice suddenly and I pulled the phone away from my ear for a brief moment. "Why didn't you bring me with you? I wanted to see Kevin."

"I did not plan on coming here and I surely did not plan on having dinner," I informed him and I paused, a frown coming on my face. "Besides, I thought that you did not like Kevin."

"Well," he started. "He is intriguing and funny."

"Funny?" I repeated and I huffed. "I did not find him funny at all."

"But he is fun," he protested. "I want fun in my life and you need fun in your life too. So much fun."

"This doesn't make any sense," I informed him.

"Well, love never makes any sense," he added and I blinked.

"What does love have to do with anything here?" I asked him in confusion.

"That, only the future can tell," he replied in a deep tone and I sighed. I would have never thought that Kyle would get attached to Kevin so fast. I was trying to avoid that to happen but I did not realize that it already did. It had always been the boys and I along with my parents and I guessed that having someone new at home made them feel different.

"Okay, Kyle, I will go now," I told him and I quickly added, "Don't play with your food, eat everything in your plat and I want both of you to have taken your shower before I come back home."

"Alright, alright," he agreed a little bit too easily.

"I'm serious, Kyle. I know you, each time I'm not at home, you do whatever you want and you can't do whatever you want," I made it clear to him. "Do as I said. Promise, little guy?"

"I promise," he said right away and I smiled. There was a grand chance that he would disobey me but I already knew what would be his punishment if he dared do it. "See ya, dad."

"See ya, Kyle," I chuckled and he ended the call. Humming to myself, I placed my phone back in its place and looked around. I was still in the garage and it had been some minutes now since Kevin left. What was I supposed to do? I had been invited for dinner but everyone left me alone.

Slowly, I took my bag and got out of here, throwing one last glance at Kevin's bike. To think that I was here because of this was at the same time funny and unbelievable.I sighed at that thought and I decided to search for any sort of human company. Kevin was busy taking a shower surely, I did not know where Charles was and Kevin's dad must be probably cooking dinner, at least, I thought that he was. I followed the path that Charles and I took to get to the garage and I soon found myself back at the front door.

The idea of running away came to me but I did not take it into consideration. Turning around on myself, I suddenly heard a noise coming from somewhere in the house and then someone curse out loud. Frowning and curious, I made my way towards the noise and bingo, I found myself in the kitchen where Kevin's dad happened to be situated. Before I could speak to let him know about my presence, he turned around with an expression of pure annoyance on his face, though, at the sight of me, he immediately regained his smile.
