Okay AU where Tsukki is the moon's voice and Yams likes to stare at the moon.
Yamaguchi stared at the nearly gone moon for the third time that night. He was sleep deprived, but he still didn't close his eyes. Bags hung under his eyelids and yawns escaped his mouth every two minutes or so. In two days the moon would vanish from the sky and be reborn.
The nights where the moon goes away are Yamaguchi's nightmare nights. He always tries to either not sleep or get so tired that he has a good sleep on those nights. He never knew why the moon's departure gave him nightmares— it just did.
That one night he decided to be crazy and talk to the moon, as if it would give him answers. He turned to the nearly gone moon. Opening his mouth, he spoke in a whisper, "Why do I get nightmares when you leave?"
He heard a voice in his head that wasn't his own. It used a boy's voice. "I don't know why, either."
Yamaguchi gasped at the sudden voice. He looked around his room, but no one was there. He turned to the moon. In a weak voice he asked, "Was it you, Moon?"
The moon replied fast, "Yes, but call me Tsukishima." Yamaguchi blinked. Maybe he needed to sleep. Yes, he was delusional and all he needed was some shut eye.
Tsukishima spoke up before Yamaguchi could slip into his bed, "You think your imagining me, aren't you?" His voice sounded hurt. "Your always gazing up here. Why? I've been wondering, but didn't have the guts to speak..."
"Huh? Why I glance at the moon every night? Well I guess its because its calming. I like the moon," Yams replied. Turning around he glanced at the sliver in the sky. He had a question. "What happens to you when the moon vanishes from the sky?"
"Just like the moon, I'm silent. I return when the moon does," Tsukishima replied.
"Wow, that's terrible Tsukki...," Yams started.
"Tsukki?" Tsukishima mumbled, surprised.
"Oh sorry, Tsukishima takes to long to say so I shortened it to Tsukki. Is that okay?" the freckled boy asked.
"S-sure...," Tsukki stuttered. Yams smiled and glanced down.
"Don't you ever get lonely?" he asked. Tsukki was quiet for a while.
"Yeah," he answered. "But I spend my time watching anything with Dinosaurs."
"Dinosaurs? Why?" Yams questioned. Tsukki laughed a little.
"I don't know either," the dinosaur-loving idiot replied.
"I don't want you to leave. I want the moon to stay in sky," Yams confessed, knowing nothing can be done.
"I wish I didn't, but I vanish every new moon...," Tsukki explained.
They talked all night and the next night. When it was time for the new moon. Yamaguchi wished on the stars that he and Tsukki could still talk even through these nights.
One star suddenly shone brightly, nearly blinding Yams. He searched the sky, but only saw stars. Maybe that was a bit childish, wishing on a star like that. He turned and nearly jumped out the window at the sight of a tall blonde. He looked at Yams.
"Um... Is that you Yamaguchi? I can't see anything...," the taller male muttered.
"Wait... Tsukki?!" Yams asked. "Wait, do you need glasses? My father use to need one so I can give you a pair..."
Yams ran to the kitchen and opened a drawer. He dug around for a minute before pulling out black-trimmed glasses. He put them on for Tsukki and stepped back to make sure they were on straight.
"Wow. I can see...," Tsukki mumbled looking around before returning his eyes to Yams.
"How'd you get here? Aren't you the moon's voice? Why do you have a physical form...?" Yams asked.
"Well I don't know myself. What I wanna know is why I formed here out of all places," Tsukki stated. Yams sighed.
"Oh well, I guess its a good thing. 'Cause now I cane do this," Yams said before hugging Tsukki. He let go only to be pulled back into the hug by Tsukki.
"I've always wanted to hug you...," he mumbled.
Aw so sweet. Nothing like salt and yams... Wait what?
