People believe that magic is fiction. Only a crazy person, or a small child, would believe in such a thing. Few dared to believe, so many turned the other way to those who did believe. Magic used to be believed by all, in the very old times, now many don't in fear of being called childish.
But, magic does exist.

I stared out the window of my apartment. A 17 year old shouldn't live alone however, my parents couldn't afford to take care of me. I knew it. So, I bid them adieu. They didn't fight to have me stay, but they didn't want me to go either. Luckily, my aunts and uncles had managed to help them give me enough money to get a head start on living alone. Now I lived in a small apartment in a Cottonwood Falls, Kansas. I'm just a junior at Cottonwood High School (not a legit high-school XD).
My phone buzzed at me. I sighed. Probably Kasai. Kasai, 17 years old, 5 months older than me and my childhood best friend. She was goofy and probably one of the few who could get me to laugh so hard that I'd cry. I made a circular motion with my finger, my phone was surrounded by a small blue glow and levitated to me. I grabbed it and checked my phone.
I'd been right.
Kasai - 2:36 PM Hey killjoy, up for some tea then a walk by the falls?
God it killed me when she used that name. I was not a killjoy. I sighed and answered with Sure ;) where do you want to meet?
Almost instantly I had a response.
Kasai - 2:37 PM How about the Sweeteas Tea Shop near the Shell over on the corner near your place?
Lance - 2:38 PM Sounds good, see you there ;)
Kasai - 2:38 PM K, cya! =)
I sighed and set my phone down. I got up and walked to my small room which was really a den that I turned into a sleeping area

(kind of like this). I did, thankfully, have a closet which I kept all my clothes in. I grabbed a pair of jeans from the drawer I had in the closet. I quickly changed to them, grabbed my phone and apartment keys then messaged Kasai to let her know I was on my way.
I locked my apartment door and headed for the tea shop that was quite close. I was glad it was the weekends since I hated school since it was always so boring. The only reason I even go is because I need to graduate.
I saw Kasai waiting outside of the tea shop. I jogged up to her. She smiled at me and I returned the smile but only faintly. We walked inside and went to order our tea. We paid, got our tea and sat down at a table. "So what spells have you learned?" She asked quietly. Of course Kasai knew about my 'Black Magic'. She uses it as well. Only her magic appears pink, my magic appears blue.
I smiled. "Yeah, I've got a few, the levitation is at max for me. Uhm, learning how to form things, got a few love spells which I'll definitely never use. I'm working on mind control spells." I said the last part in a smirk. "Nice." She said. I took a sip of my tea. "So, Shiro wants you to meet his foster brother Keith." Kasai said and I nearly spit out my tea. I swallowed hard and then looked at her. "Why?" I said quietly. Kasai chuckled. "Something about you needing more friends." She said.
"Shiro's out of fucking high-school, can't he get a life?" I said irritated. Kasai let out amused chuckle at my retort. "Let Shiro be himself." She said smiling. I rolled my eyes and took a sip from my tea hoping to not nearly spit it out this time. This time she took a sip of her tea which made me glad she wasn't going to say anything.

We walked to the falls to find Pidge and Hunk already there. I nudged Kasai and smiled at her. "Hey love birds!" Kasai yelled loudly. The two of them looked at us in utter shock. I doubled over laughing at the looks they had. Kasai did as well. "God you guys are pricely!" I cried through laughter. Pidge got up and walked over to Kasai and I who were laying on the ground laughing. "God sometimes I wish you weren't taken cause you and Lance would make an adorable couple." She said smirking at us. "I'd never say that in front of Ash, oh boy, he'd get so mad." Kasai said. "Besides Lance is just like my brother, that'd be weird." She said as she got up.
I had to admit she was built very nicely but I'd never date her. I chuckled and sat up. Of course I was bisexual, but I'm more drawn to men than women. "Pidge, you excited for school Monday?" Kasai said and I shuttered at the word 'school'. Pidge smiled widely. "Hell yeah!" She said cheerfully. "Pidge. You're so strange." Hunk said getting up and walking over to us.
We spent the rest of the day walking by the river/falls. We joked and enjoyed our time. Kasai ended up coming back to my house and falling asleep on my couch while I slept in my bed.
-Monday-
I groaned as I walked to school with Kasai. "Too early to be up." I said sleepily. Kasai chuckled and sipped on her coffee. "Oh stop complaining you big baby." She said amused. "Besides you'll be meeting your future boyfriend today." Kasai said meaning Shiro's foster brother. "Not looking forward to that." I mumbled unhappily.
"Lance!" What the hell is Shiro doing up at this hour?! Shiro was standing outside of the school next to a boy who seemed oddly familiar. Tall, pale, long black hair. Hmmm... Where do I recognize him from?
"Lance this is Keith, my foster brother." Shiro said smiling. Keith looked up at me. His eyes were a gorgeous purple, it was a bit startling. Kasai is the only person I've ever met who has natural born purple eyes. "Hello, I'm Lance." I said in a emotionless tone. I didn't want to show how startled I was.
"Hey. I'm Keith." He responded in a slightly bored tone. His voice was even gorgeous.
Dammit.
"I recognize you..... Oh that's right we have a few classes together. You're the one everyone calls a weirdo. A bit shocking, you could be a model." Keith said smiling a bit.
