"Hey Becca," Zayn called from the living room. Becca turned just as Zayn came into the kitchen. He was wearing his coat and shoes.

"Yeah baby?" Becca asked, keeping an eye on the stove.

"I'm going out with the lads again. I'll most likely be late," Zayn said.

Becca frowned, her lips forming a pout. "But Zayn, you promised that we would have dinner together tonight. We haven't had dinner together in like, what? A year?" she complained, not happy about the news.

Zayn sighed and frowned. "I know," he said as he walked over to Becca, "but this is kind of a tradition with us."

"Well can't they understand that we need to at least have a meal together every once in a while?" Becca asked, turning to the stove and turning it off as the water started to boil.

Zayn sighed and shrugged. "I know, but...they're just weird...I'll...I'll talk to them, okay? See if I can convince them to let me have dinner with you this Friday night and all throughout the weekend, yeah?" He said, lifting her chin up with his thumb and pointer finger. Becca looked up at him with wide, innocent dark brown eyes, and Becca swore she saw Zayn's eyes flash for a moment.

"Yeah, I'd appreciate that," Becca said quietly.

Zayn nodded and hesitantly kissed Becca on the lips. "I love you. I'll see you tonight. Don't stay up waiting for me," Zayn said as he opened the door and left.

Becca sighed and turned back to the stove, and just dumped the already boiled water into the sink. No point of making a meal for two if there's only one person there to eat it, right?

It was almost always like this. Zayn and Becca would spend the day together when they had time, they would have breakfast and lunch together if Zayn wasn't doing anything, but then at night when they were going to have dinner he always went out with the boys to eat or do something. It pissed Becca off because Zayn was always so busy and they didn't always get to spend much time together despite the fact that they shared a home with each other. Zayn would always say that he would talk to the boys about letting him have a night with Becca, but he said that they never agreed. Becca wondered if they boys had something against her. She had done nothing bad to them, at least that was what she was aware of.

Becca opened up the fridge and pulled out the leftover chicken breasts that she had cooked the other night (she couldn't finish it all by herself) and removed the tinfoil before placing them in the microwave. She set the timer for one minute and leaned against the counter, biting her lip as the thought.

Zayn probably wouldn't be with the boys yet. He just left less than a minute ago. Maybe I can call one of the boys and talk to them, Becca thought. The microwave beeped, bringing her back from her thoughts. Becca opened up the microwave and set the plate of chicken on the counter before getting a fork and a knife and placing them on the kitchen table. She then pulled her phone out of her back pocket and called Liam - who she was very close with. The phone rang three times before it stopped and his familiar deep voice spoke.

"Hello?"

"Hey Liam, it's Becca," Becca said, leaning against the counter once again.

"Oh, hey Becca! What's up?" Liam asked.

"I just wanted to know why you guys never let Zayn spend the night here at home for dinner. I mean, I get it. You guys are like brothers and really enjoy spending time with each other, but he is my boyfriend, and we don't get to see each other too often during the day. So I was just curious to know why?" Becca said. There was a pause on the other end.

"Wait what?" Liam said, confusion clear in his tone.

"What do you mean 'What'? Zayn always leaves at night before dinner to go out with you guys," Becca said, twirling a piece of her dark brown-ish-black hair.

"Becca, we never do that. We go out once in a while together, but not every night. The last time I think we did that was about six months ago," Liam said. Becca ruffled her eyebrows together in confusion even though Liam couldn't see her.

"What? He always tells me that he's going out with you guys...are you lying to me?" Becca said angrily, not liking the idea of one of her closest friends lying to her.

"No I'm not! I swear! Even ask Niall! He's with me right now. Just the two of us. We're watching a film," Liam said. There were muffled voices speaking and a bit of shuffling before Niall's familiar voice spoke.

"Hey Becca. Now what are you goin' on about when you said that Zayn's always going out to eat with us?" Niall asked with a questioning voice.

"That's exactly what I mean! Zayn always tells me that he's going out with you guys then leaves! I haven't had an actual dinner with him for a year!" Becca said, running her free hand through her hair.

"Like Liam said, we don't do that."

"I know! Why does he always leave though?" Becca paused. "Wait, do Louis and Harry know?"

"I dunno, but Niall's gonna call them and ask," Liam's voice said into the phone once again. Becca heard muffled voices in the background before there was some shuffling.

"They don't know where he is either, Becca. The last time we saw him was today at Louis' house when we went over to watch a movie. You were there, remember?" Niall said.

"Yeah, I remember," Becca said quietly.

"Have you tried calling him?" Liam asked.

"He just left two minutes ago," Becca stood up and walked over to the front door. "And he left his phone here," she said with a sigh as she picked up the black iPhone.

"Hm, that's odd. He doesn't usually do that," Niall said.

"I know."

"Why don't you talk to him about it when he gets back," Liam suggested.

"I can't! He'll probably just try to change the subject or something. Sometimes when I talked to him about trying to convince you guys to let him have dinner with me more often he would just change the subject randomly or just tell me to drop it and say that he would talk to you guys about it, but obviously he never did because he's been lying to me this whole time," Becca said as she tugged on her hair in frustration. She had made her way over to the couch and had sat down on it as she said that.

"Do you want us to talk to him?" he asked.

Becca sighed and shook her head, but then remembered that they couldn't see her. "No, it's fine. I'll just follow him tomorrow night...it's the only way I'll get answers."

"You want us to come?" Niall asked.

"No, it's fine. I can do this on my own," Becca said.

"You sure?" Liam asked.

"I'm sure," Becca said, smiling at their protectiveness. "Now I gotta go so my food doesn't get cold. Later guys!"

"BYE!" Liam and Niall said at the same time before hanging up. Becca sighed and hung up as well before reentering the kitchen.

As Becca ate her dinner her thoughts drifted to Zayn.

Where was he? Why had he been lying to her about going out with the boys? Why did he always go out at night? What was he even doing anyway?

Oh god, he better not be cheating.

Becca sighed and pushed her plate away, suddenly not hungry anymore. She threw the rest of her leftover dinner in the trash bin before checking the time.

9:30

Even though that it was a little early for her, Becca decided that she would go to bed. Zayn wouldn't be back until who know's when anyway, so why bother trying to wait up for him? Becca threw her dishes in the sink and grabbed her phone before trudging up the wooden steps. The steps squeaked beneath her feet, their sounds echoing throughout the seemingly empty house. It was way too quiet for Becca's liking, although she was used to it. She was used to the loneliness. She was used to going to bed alone, without Zayn's arms wrapped protectively around. Sure, when she woke up Zayn had her in his arms, but it just wasn't the same as falling asleep with him. It just wasn't.

Becca felt like the reason Zayn always left at night was because he was cheating on her. Maybe he had lost interest and was only staying with her so she wouldn't feel so useless, but was secretly dating another chick for kicks. It was possible. Becca did feel like her and Zayn weren't that close anymore. Like they had been drifting apart. Whenever Becca tried to get closer to Zayn he seemed to just push her away. It was like he didn't even want her near him at times, which hurt. A lot. It felt like a stab to the heart.

When Becca reached her room she changed out of her blue jeans and grey tank top and switched into a pair of red pajama bottoms and a white T-shirt - ironically, it was Zayn's. Becca put her hair up in a pony tail before she brushed her teeth, washed her fave, and turned off the light. Becca crawled into bed and snuggled up with Zayn's pillow. Becca wrapped her arms protectively around it, as if it was the most precious thing on Earth. She buried her face in it and smelled it. It smelt like Zayn.

And soon enough, Becca fell asleep like that, her dreams full of the mysterious brown-eyed man.
