Rant #2 - Cliché

Ah, cliches, you can't live with'em, you can't live without.

I don't know where to start. Let's see...

There is a reason a cliche is a cliche. It sells, but most of cliches are so over done it pains me to read about them. Here are some of the most infuriating ones:

(Try to enjoy and not pull your hair out)

1. ''I'm not like other girls.''

I hate this. Like, bitch stop. When some girl says this it immediately puts me off. Are you trying to say other girls are not as good as you?

Usually this is said by some girl that is trying to be confident and wants to show a guy he can't win her over as easily or some BS like that.

The first time I read this I didn't think much of it, but then more people used it in their books, I thought about it more, and just started hating it.

2. I looked myself in the mirror. I have tanned skin, long legs, big boobs, long silky hair, blue eyes, and long tick eyelashes. I hate my body. I'm so ugly.

Yup, I am talking about the stereotypical beautiful, hot, gorgeous girls, who think they are ugly. So, maybe no one ever wrote something like the paragraph above, but you would be surprised, how close it is to real stories.

I don't know if these kind of girls are just fishing for compliments, or need therapy.

Believe me when I say if a girl is hot, she knows it. (Unless, she has some kind of a mental disorder. -Not meant to be funny, I mean actual mental illnesses , and I know people who have serious problems because of it.)

Please stop writing these kind of characters, because it doesn't make them look humble, just insecure and whiny.

3. Scarlet walked past us shooting me a glare. I raised my eyebrows at her. Scarlet is the schools slut. Everyone hates her, but is afraid of her, because her dad is the principal. She always wears Skirts that barely cover her butt and high heels... bla bla bla

''She is such a whore.'' Jessica, my best friend, whispered in my ear.

''I know right?'' I snickered.

First of all, I have no idea how could anyone come to school in that any not get dress coded. Second of all, just because someone wears tight clothes, doesn't give you the right to call them a slut.

And finally, why? Why is there always a slut, everyone loves, but secretly hates, that threatens the sweet innocent nerd, to get her away from the guy she likes. Whyyyyy? Please someone help me, and explain. It's so unrealistic, so overdone, and so stupid. I don't get it.

4. ''Feisty, I like it.''

I have absolutely nothing to say about this. It's just fucking stupid. If you have this in your book, I don't want to offend you or anything, but your entire book is now ruined in my eyes.

5. ''I love you.'' I said looking him in his beautiful blue orbs. This was the best first date ever.

''I love you, too.'' He got down on his knee and took out a small red box from his pocket.

If words ''I love you.'' in your story are being said in the first three weeks of two people knowing each other, then fuck you.

P.S. I don't know why people say orbs instead of eyes. It's just annoying.

6. Suddenly the whole school went quiet. I looked down the hall and saw the three most popular guys walking towards the cafeteria. The girls were fanning themselves, and the other guys looked at them in something between jealousy and admiration. They are so hot. We call them 'the three musketeers'.

No. No. No. No and no. This is the most unrealistic cliche, EVER. I don't think this has happened once in the history of every high school ever. There will probably never be a group of friends, that are so hot, every girl in school loves them. No. Never. I refuse to read shit like this.

Please stop writing this bullshit. I hate it. Everyone hates it. (Sadly, not true.) Goodbye. Have a nice day. (The last sentence was my inner Canadian)
