Kacey pov
I sat on the porch of my now old house. Ive been dreading this day all week. I never asked for all of this to happen to me but it was happening.
"Hey K are you ready to go?" Mama G asked.
"I dont want to go with her mama. I love my life right here in Houston. I don't want to move to L.A. and be with her and her family." I honestly and sadly said.
"Listen to me Kacey. You will not disrespect you mother-"
"That is not my mother."
She sighed. "Kacey she is your mother. You have to face the truth. We know what she did was wrong but you cant hold what she did against her. You should be thankful she kept you out of the spotlight."
"How can I be thankful when she never even made an effort to be in my life? Not once did she call or even write me a letter. Now I'm suppose to act like everything is fine."
"Im not asking you to be fake. All I'm asking you to do is be cordial with her."
"She cant just come and uproot me from my home like this. I dont want to go with her. I dont want to be with her. She should have left me alone like she did for the past 16 years. I can't be cordial with someone I despise."
It was quiet for a second. I did not want to leave my mama. She is the only mother I have ever known. Why did she want me back after all of this time?
Then a black SUV pulled up. I knew it was my ride. Me and mama stood up. Tears immediately formed.
"Bye baby girl. I love you so much. Call me when you land and when you need anything." she said as we hugged.
"Bye mama. I love you too. Ill call you later."
"Don't cry Kacey. I promise you will be fine."
We hugged for about a minute.
"Its time for you to go. I dont want yall to miss your flight. Be good and respectful. You hear me?"
"I can't make you any promises." I said as I walked away.
"You better behave!"
"I will."
She walked away and went in the house. A man got out of the car to help me with my bags.
"Let me help you with your bags Ms. Braxton-
"Carter."
"Im sorry. Ms. Carter."
We put all of my stuff up and we opened my door. I looked in and it was empty. I was glad. I didnt have to pretend to listen to her and be interested in what she was saying. I got a final glimpse of the house one last time before we left.
"Your mother will be joining us in about 20 minutes. We have to pick her up from her hotel."
"Ok."
Now most kids would be happy to find out that their parents are famous. Well not me. When I found out who my mother was I was beyond mad. They told me to guess who she was. They told me she was a recording artist and I immediately shouted out Beyonce. They said no and I was left guessing again. They said she was on two reality shows, she owned her own show, and she hosted a show. All of that didnt ring a bell.
Then they said she put out and album called 'Calling All Lovers'. Then I knew who she was. She was late to the meeting we were having at my house. When she finally came the first thing I said to her was 'I hate you'. After I said that I got up and went to my room. You see I wasnt happy like most people.
