You held your knees to your chest as tears silently streamed down your face.

Your mother had one of her episodes. Lashing out on you and yelling at you was normal, but she had gotten immensely more violent this time.

A surge of pain shot through your head at the memory of her fingers laced tightly through your hair, using it to bang your head against the sideboard.

You had screamed out in pain and begged for mercy, but to no avail. The cruel woman continued her vicious ways and proceeded to throw you against the wall with an abnormal amount of force for someone of her build.

Every part of your body was aching, you could think of nothing more but the pain.

It only worsened when you felt a sharp jab in your ribs caused by your mothers foot. She had hit you so hard and so precisely that you started choking for air, bringing you more excruciating pain.

You felt as if your lungs were failing you, they didn't seem to be helping you at all.

Your whimpers, occasional yells and gasping for air were the only sounds in the dull room.

Your mother stood back and stared intently at the wailing heap of limbs on the ground before her.

You silently prayed for death, for her to end your life quickly so you wouldn't need to endure the pain any longer.

She tutted at you and left the house, seeming disgusted by you.

The slamming of the front door rang in your ears and made your head hurt more, making more tears stream down your face.

It had been two hours since the incident and you couldn't move from your position on the floor without feeling the same shock of pain from earlier.

You had checked for bleeding on your head but there was none, although you had coughed up some blood which pretty much confirmed that you had a bruised rib.

Hoping that you didn't have a concussion too, you gazed outside to see the almost pitch black sky.

Your mother was probably going to stay out for the night, maybe she wouldn't even come back for a couple days.

You closed your eyes for a second or two, visions of freedom from this prison filled your head.

When you opened your eyes you weren't where you expected yourself to be.

Everything around you was black, an endless sea of darkness that seemed almost swallowing.

The somewhat comforting feeling of the wall behind you had disappeared but you were still in the same position you were in before.

You sensed that the area was much bigger that the kitchen you were in once before. In fact, you felt a little agoraphobic.

Before you could debunk what you were seeing and feeling, a spotlight appeared on the ground a few feet from you, though oddly it only lit up that small patch of ground, everything else was still as dark as the darkest night without a moon.

You looked up to try and figure out where the source of the light was coming from, but it seemed to go on forever.

A sweet smell tingled in your nostrils, making you aware of the swirling purple smoke that was now in the centre of the spotlight.

You must have been hallucinating, you knew you had a concussion now.

From the purple smoke a figure emerged.
