Chapter 1||Determination

Aphmau's P.O.V

"Stupid!-" He hit me. "-ass!-" He kicked me. "-bitch!" He punched me. I groaned in agony as he walked away. 

"Typical day..." I thought to myself. I felt a burning liquid trickle down my cheek. I touched it and a stinging sensation burned through my cheek. I pulled away and looked at the red liquid on my fingers. "Blood..." I thought out loud, staggering to stand up. With a limp, I made my way to the nurse's office. It was the end of the fourth period, but at this point in time, I couldn't care.

As I arrived at the nurse's office I pushed open the door and walked in. "You again?" She sighed and I hummed a response. "What happened this time?" I shook my head. I don't talk. Not ever. "Still mute?" This time, I nodded.

Let me explain: I'm a mute because I'm bullied and all alone. I'm bullied because I'm all alone, because of my appearance, because I'm a mute. I first became mute when my parents died; they were murder. Killed. Right in front of my eyes. Then, shortly after, my best friends (Max, Ross, Shelby and Krista), moved away. So, I was left alone, in my hometown, with no one, and nothing, other than my non-existent voice. I go to Phoenix Drop High, the high school in my hometown, and I'm the most bullied. They hurt me, both physically and mentally, and most of the time I wonder why I'm still alive. And yet, I'm still here. I'm still here because of him...

The nurse passed me an icepack, snapping me out of my thoughts, and I held it up to my left eye. With a hiss of pain, I sat down onto one of the plastic chairs. I wanted to say something, but I just couldn't. It's not the fact that I refused to, but I just couldn't find my voice.

After a while, the bell went for lunch and I walked out - only to be greeted by hurtful comments. "This is my life..." I thought out loud quietly to myself as a tear rolled down my left cheek. I quickly wiped it away with a small sigh. I plugged my earphones into my ears and phone and clicked play on my phone. "Loving you is suicide..." They blasted. It's true; loving him is suicide. He's the one that hurts me, beats me and bullies me the most.

Laurance Zvhal: The biggest casanova in the whole of Phoenix Drop High. One of the most popular boys in the whole school. Best friends with Garroth Ro'meave, adopted brother to Cadenza Zvhal (who is dating Garroth), and is dating Lucinda Quinones. He has every girl after him and he is the hottest boy imaginable.

During middle school, I used to be pretty good friends with the four of them - and a few others. Then, we fell out, lost all contact and all friendships. Then, the thing with my parents happened, then my best friends moved away and then everything changed. I've always had a crush on Laurance, though. And it'll never change.

I brushed past him. I heard Lucinda snigger and make a comment regarding my appearance and Cadenza make a comment regarding my outfit. I heard Garroth mutter something and awkwardly shuffle - he was never really one for being mean, and he still isn't, to be honest. But it's Laurance's response that really got to me - "Potato."

My height has always been my downfall - especially when people made fun of it for me.

My head snapped round to face him. I was looking - no, staring - into his eyes. They were glimmering with an emotion I couldn't read. I blushed and then ran off.

"Little whore!" Lucinda called after me. "He's mine! Not yours! Never yours!"

I reached the corner that I always spend lunch in, and my phone buzzed. It was a text from one of my friend's that moved away - Max.

"Stay filled with determination and keep eating butterscotch cinnamon pie!" It read. I smiled to myself and began to eat my lunch.
