Two Against One. On Hold

Chapter 5

I curled my hair before school and added a little mascara, I put on my favorite black dress that had off the shoulder sleeves. I waited in the kitchen for Yukis honk that would indicated he was here to pick me up. I hear the the front door and steps come towards me but Ignored them and continued to read. A hand slams down on the counter next to me. I look up and glare at Luca and Jared. "Hello?" I say.

"I have just been informed you have received two mates." My brother growls.

"Yeah and?" I snap. I didn't care if he was the Alpha he was my brother I wasn't going to treat him any different then I would my other brothers.

"And that sounds like something you should share with your brother and Alpha." I growls loudly close to my face, I could feel the heat from his breath.

"You weren't around." I say. Which was true by the time he got home last night I had already fallen asleep and then he left early in the morning to discuss pack business.

"I hear these mates of yours are from the rival pack." He says.

I nod. "They are."

"And you don't care?!"

"Their my mates I don't care where they came from." I say definitely.

"So your going to join their pack? Leave your family behind?" He growls.

"I never said that." I say simply.

"Well it is implied." He growls.

"They live in the same city as we do. It's not that far." I growl back.

"Who says they won't let you come visit?" He says. Jared stays silent leaning against the wall watching us.

"They are my mates, they want me happy. I doubt they will be that cruel." I say.

Why was it such a if fear that I was going to leave them and never return? I hear a familiar honk outside and brush past my eldest brother and grab my backpack and book. He grabs my arm. "This conversation isn't over."

"I have school." I say. "We can talk about this later."

"Come straight home." He says and let's go. I walk out the front door not saying another word. I climb into Yukis 2008 Hyundai Sonata out my seat belt on and glare out the window.

"And hello to you too" I just growl at him. 

"Ren what's going on?" He asks gently as we pullout of my driveway.

"I just don't see why no one can be happy for me." I say.

"I'm happy for you. We all are. I think we're all just jealous. You've found your mates you've found your true loves and rest of us have nothing." I guess I hadn't really so considered how my brothers must be feeling. Their younger sister finding who she's meant to be with her soul mates and yet they have no one, no one to love. It must be killing Luca most of all at 24 he still has no mate. The pack officials must be pestering him to just mate with an unmarked girl already. Time if of the essence and the pack needs heirs according to the officials.

"I'm sorry Yuki. I didn't mean to be inconsiderate." I say.

"No were just being too sensitive." He says. He finds a close parking space to the school and we both hop out and head towards the school.

"Girl you look mighty adorable today." He says winking taking my arm and tugging me.

I laugh. "Thanks." Why was it always adorable or cute? Why was it never stunning, gorgeous or hot? Just always the cute one.

"Girl can you believe we're only two months from graduation?" Yuki squeals digging though his locker.

"It's been a long journey." I say smiling to myself. 

"Girl it's freaking a bummer I haven't found my mate yet, I've always had that fantasy of just walking with him to class." He murmurs finding the lip gloss and applying it too his lips.  I kind of had that fantasy too.

"I should have at least dated before finding my mate, I mean I still could but I feel I'm so close to meeting him." He says Shutting his locker.

"What if your mates a girl?" I ponder aloud.

He gasps dramatically. "Why would you say such a thing?!" He says extremely loudly. I suddenly feel an arm drape around my shoulders.

"Why are you yelling at my mate?" Damien asks. I look up at him my breath almost catching at his gorgeous face. He glared at Yuki.

"No business of yours." Yuki snaps.

"Oh but you see this is our mate and you yelling at her makes it our business." Derek says taking my hand.

"I was only joking." Yuki says rolling his eyes. "Guys it's fine." I say softly. Both twins look down at me and their eyes soften.

"Alright darling." Derek murmurs pressing his lips to the crown of my head. I instantly blush.

"That's right keep your men in check." Yuki says making Damien role his eyes. Yuki tells us he's going to class and leaves quickly.

"So how'd your brothers take it?" Derek asks. I knew what they meant.

"They were fine with it. Perfectly fine." I lie quickly.

"Serena please don't lie. You can tell us." Derek says. I sigh.

"Um a little anger showed they don't want you guys to take me away." I say quietly.

"Take you away?" They seemed a little confused.

"Like force me to join your pack and never let me see my brothers again or go to my pack." I say ashamed at my words.

"We would never do that to you." Damien says immediately. Derek agrees with his twin, "We want you happy we just want to be with you we don't care where."
