I heard the sound of heels thumping on the hardwood floor outside of my bedroom door, coming to an abrupt stop. I look closely at myself in the mirror as I finish applying my lip gloss. The wooden door creaked loudly as my own personal butler came into my bedroom. "Are you almost ready? The horses are about ready also." His voice voice was soft, youthful, odd considering his age of of at least thirty-five. "Yes, I just finished," I reply, eyeing myself in the mirror. "Do you remember the mission Y/N?" I could see his lean figure ask me in the reflection of the large vanity mirror. "Yes, seduce and eliminate the Earl Phantomhive, the Queens' Guard Dog," I sigh, stuffing the small pocket knife into my cleavage, and make my way downstairs in the large and far too puffy ball gown.

I found it odd, really. I remember reading the letter the Queen had sent me, stating to seduce and kill the Earl. It was strange because he is her Guard Dog, and I am her Nigh Owl. I'm Y/N L/N, and to be honest, it's actually even more strange as to how I got here without dying, as well as my butler. Let me explain a bit, two years ago, when I was fifteen, I was the deadliest assassin of the illegal black market list, and now, I'm the deadliest Queens' assistant. One would say I lived in the slumps, but to be frank, I used to be just like the Earl, a noble of England. I was in the L/N family, and my family had been in the jewelry industry for generations. In fact, we had put together pieces of crowns for royalty around the world. So, how I became an untouchable you may ask, well it's simple. My family was murdered, and I wasn't home when it had happened...Not only that, but I was at least four or five, so I couldn't carry on the family business. It's actually on record that I was dead, and that's what makes it fun, seeing the look on my victims faces as they see the long lost Y/N. You see, I was taken in by my aunt and lived in a small village where I had met a rather bossy blonde boy and his adorable younger brother. We had all grown close, but eventually, they left without a trace as the village burned. My aunt Chrisy had grown rather attached to any illegal substance. Which is how I met my boss when I was ten. Eventually, my aunt went mad and started hitting me. I was ten, but I knew I deserved better. Now, I was completely out of the noble life as I ran away, and of course, I went to Adrian. I guess you could say I had feelings for him, considering he was the first person I went to. I always felt safe around him.

A lot of people would have been scared to even approach where I lived. We all lived in an abandoned hospital of some sort. It was a place where even the dark days were bright. I enjoyed living with the people there. They were very friendly and they were family. It was a home of oddballs, misfits, the beaten, and the damned, and I loved it. I was the youngest, and they all showered me with love and care.

When I had turned twelve, I figured out why the people were living there. At first, I thought it was only Adrian that was selling things, but I found out that a lot of people were selling a lot of different things. scary things, but I didn't view them any differently, because that's not what I knew them for. I wanted to fit in. I wanted Adrian to see that I could be like everyone else... So, when I was young, I had made a deal with a red-headed grim reaper. The deal was that I could get him a new scythe if he would give me his powers of speed and strength as well as being able to depict the differences of man and demon later in life. Of course, the deal was set, and there was a catch. Nothing crazy, but there is a small seal on my hand between my index finger and thumb. That, and I can't die unless I'm killed by something as the same force as me. Not that I mind, but if a human were trying to kill me, it'd be extensive suffering until I heal.

As I had said, I wanted to prove myself to Adrian, so he jokingly gave me a victim, and I did the job. He was speechless at first, but there was a party later. I was only twelve... By the time I was thirteen, I had already killed at least fifty people under the order of Adrian, or with him. Eventually, he wanted to go big! The goal was to kill the queen, take her crown, and sell in on the black market of England. Needless to say, it was the queen, and so she had strong security. We had gotten pretty far, but we weren't as prepared as we had thought we were. The queen had taken both of us to court, and instead of having us beheaded, or burned at the stake, she was rather impressed with the amount of killing I could do in such a short amount of time and how quick and discrete it was, if I had wanted it to be, that is... So, she had taken both Adrian and me under her wing and we made a deal. The deal was she'll let us live in a fancy manor as long we kill who she tells us to without it going public. So we go at night, and that's how I got my nickname, The Queens' Night Owl. However, the Queen had also said since I had given my life for Adrian, he has to serve under me now. It was strange, but he went missing for a year and a half, and you could tell he had changed, but he would't tell me what had happened. He told me not to worry about it because he was here. He was different though. His green eyes had been turned to a blood crimson, I felt uneasy, but still had all the trust in the world for him. Although, in the year and a half we were apart, I managed to shove me feelings for Adrian aside as I couldn't connect with him anymore. But, when he came back, there were tears, and that was the first time he, or anyone for that matter had seen me cry.

But that was then, and this is now. I'm just happy the Queen doesn't care how or when I get rid of people, as long as I get it done.

I sit next to Adrian, eyeing the huge manor outside the window of the carriage. "Jesus Christ, this kid is a show off," I whisper with a cringed tone. "Y/N, he's older than you are," Adrian snapped as he opened the door. "Then he's much more dramatic than I am," I make my way to a large door, only to be greeted by a slender man in a tailcoat suit. "Hello miss, I am the head butler of the Phantomhive manor, Sebastian. I'll escort you inside," Sebastian had flashed a smile and held the door open for me. I give a small curtsy bow and a subtle "Thank You." I stand up as my H/C hair flings behind me. My face straightens to a rather annoyed look as I see the mass of people in the ball room. This is going to be a lengthy mission, let me tell you.
