Prologue 2:
Lacie Heart sat at her mirror table, brushing the knots out of her ash blonde hair vigorously. Today was a special day for her, she was leaving London with a childhood friend of hers to visit a prestigious American Mage family in the states. Although, her main reason for trying so hard to look good was that she was gonna meet her childhood friend, Everett, for the first time in two and a half years. She was 14 now, him being one year older, was probably 15 by now. He had been somewhat of a average kid in her memories.
His hair was a mess of wavy black hair as dark as night. He was a mix of Italian, English, and Spanish so he has a tannish tone to his skin. She remembered him as somewhat scrawny and shorter than her, which always embarrassed him. She remembered how they used to play outside all day, her paler skin easily burning while his skin turned into a sun kissed tan. She had an idea of how he might've looked now, but his features were a bit blurred.
She took a hairband and tied her mass of blonde hair behind her in a ponytail, leaving some bangs in the front and slightly longer ones on the sides. She quickly changed from doing her hair to curling her eyelashes. She wasn't one of those girls that relied on makeup or tried being pretty. She had always been told that she was beautiful. This made people automatically lump her in with the popular kids who were usually idiots or socialite airheads.
Once she finished, she looked over herself. She wore a white sun dress that cutoff at her knees with frills at the edge. She wore flats with long white stockings that went up to her thighs. To tie her outfit together she hung a her golden locket that was half the size of her palm around her neck. The locket had been a gift from Everett. He had asked my parents to help him get a present for my tenth birthday and they picked out a golden locket. Inside the locket was a picture of him and her as children. She held the locket tenderly in her palm, Everett was one of her closest friends and to be cut off so suddenly had hurt her.
She walked out the door, grabbing her rolling luggage and parasol. She would be meeting Everett at the airport near the city. As she walked through the corridors she remembered the summers they spent catching fireflies in jars or going to the park. She had felt so heartbroken when her parents had said Everett would not be visiting for the next couple summers. She made it to the entrance of her house and opened the door.
It was a searing August day, the heat enveloped her in a swirl of wind. She immediately opened her parasol. On the curb a limo was waiting for her with her chauffeur, a 22-year old named Stephan, stood there. Upon seeing her he opened the door.
"Morning Stephen." Lacie greeted
"Good morning milady"
Lacie closed her parasol and walked into the limo. As she sat down in the air conditioned car Stephan loaded her luggage into the trunk and started driving the car to the airport. She stared out the window and started reminiscing once more of Everett. Would he still be the same goofy little kid that would tease her by calling "Lacie Pasty"? She immediately thought of ways they would converse. Lacie had the magic abilities of the sorceress Circes so maybe she could charm speak him into responding the way she wanted. She quickly dismissed that thought, doing so would be stealing his free will. Soon the limo pulled up to the entrance of the airport. Lacie pushed her door and opened her parasol. Immediately people began to stare at her in awe or jealousy, maybe a little bit of both.
Being rich and beautiful would often cause people to look at her in a biased way. Stephan handed Lacie her luggage.
"Shall I help you without anything more?" Stephan asked
"No that will be all." She turned and hugged Stephan. Stephan was somewhat of a personal servant to her. He was the child of one of the servants in the house hold and he was practically Lacie's older brother.
"You take care and have fun in America." He said. Lacie nodded in response. Stephan went back into the limo and drove away.
Lacie took her luggage and began rolling it through the entrance. According to her parents she would meet Everett near the entrance. She began walking around. She looked tirelessly around. Maybe he had canceled and she wasn't informed of it. Without noticing she accidentally tripped, knocking over someone.
"Ow, sorry about that." Lacie said.
"It's okay." A boys voice said.
The boy grabbed her hand and brought her up. He was taller than her, by about four or five inches. He had lightish skin with a vague tan. He was somewhat muscular in his arms and chest, but with a slim figure. His hair was a neatly trimmed black with a crop of bangs in the front. He had handsome features with almost golden brown eyes that peered into her soft blue eyes. The boy began to recollect himself as well.
"By the way, I'm looking for a girl with light blonde hair similar to yours, her names Lacie." The boy said
Lacie smiled. Standing in front of her was childhood friend and first kiss. "You haven't changed a bit, idiot."
An awkward smile of surprise and happiness spread across his face, it was kinda adorable. He was obviously nervous. This made Lacie laugh a little bit.
"You look prettier than I remember." Everett said
"You too."
The two of the got their tickets and walked together to their hangar.
