I stepped out of the airport and looked around at all the people walking around. The sky looked clear and a big white dove flew above you. Maybe it's a sign. That everything will get better. A smile slowly grew on my face.
Looking back at the people around the street, you saw the man that your mother had hired to give me a tour around the city. Along with escorting you home.
Turning away from the direction of the man I began to walk with my bags. Slowly strolling around the city. I stopped at a ice cream parlor and got two scoops of my favorite ice cream. Then continued to walk when I over heard a group of guys behind me," look a cow" followed by laughter. I Japanese is still a little bad. But I could at least understand that. I walked by a group of three high school girls. All thin and pretty. I looked at them and down at me. I looked back at them and a girl with long vibrant red hair noticed and smiled at me.
"Hello!" She said happily, "that ice cream looks delicious. Did you get that from the parlor a little ways down from here?"
" y-yes." I said with my cheeks a little pink from embarrassment.
"We're headed there right now. It just ope- oh." She smiled at me," did you just land here?"
       I nervously laughed,"Yeah, I did."
"I guess that makes sense. You do have a bit of an accent. Where are you from?"
      "I'm fr-"
"Hey! Let's go!" Her friend yelled from farther up.
"Oh. Would you like to join us? We could show you around if you'd like."
"Uh..." but they look so... so much prettier than me. She's probably like the other girls who would just make fun of me.
"Hey, are you okay?" She asked with a worried expression on her face.
"Y-yeah. I'm fine" I said. I've never really seen someone looked worried over a stranger. Let a line like that to me. "Think you. But maybe a different time." I bowed my head and sheepishly looked back up at her.
"It's okay. There's no need to bow." She laughed lightly. Her face turned slightly pink. "My name is kou by the way."
"I'm (Y/N). Sorry I thought every one did that... I guess I shouldn't assume to many every day customs." I laughed a little as I rubbed the back of my head.
"Here" she wrote her name and number on a piece of paper. Handing it to me with a smile. "I know how lonely people can get when they go to a new country. My brother changed a lot while in Australia. I think it might be because if it."
      "Kou!" The friends yelled again.
"Sorry, call me or text me when ever you get some down time. I'll show you around." She talked as she ran to her two friends.
I looked down at the paper and back at the group and slight smile appeared on my face. I tucked it away in my pocket and started walking again. I looked at my ice cream as I walked. I knew I shouldn't keep eating it if I did want to change. But the more I thought about it the worse I felt and finished it fairly quick.
I had now clue where I was. I just sat a bench across from a basket ball court. It was empty but something about it made me want to stare at it. I noticed a ball at the corner of the court. I got up leaving my bags and every thing in side the fence next to the basket.
I looked around to make sure there was no one around. Looking up the still clear sky I noticed how much later it was. The sun was looked like it would set in an hour or two. I slowly began to dribble the ball. After a few dribbles down the court and back I finally took a shot. The swish of the ball going right through made me smile. I picked the ball up lightly dribbled as I took a few steps back from were I took my first shot. I took a light breath in and shot again. Once again the noise of the swish made me smile.
"Wow. That's a hell of a shot." A voice came from behind me making me jump. "Sorry I didn't mean to scare you."
"I-it okay." I said as a watched a tall very tall boy with dark red hair walking up to me. The closer he got the redder your face got. "How log have been here?"
"I just got to see your last two perfect shots." He said with a smile on his face. "Do you mind if I shoot with you? I didn't think I'd want to shoot till I heard you bouncing the ball." He laughed and rubbed his head.
"I guess I could just a little." My face still red I nervously smiled at him. "I'm not much of a basket ball player."
"That's okay. My old old friend told me I should work on my shots."
"Okay." I said with a smile. "Then, do you wanna play around the world?"
       "Yeah. That'd be great."
I was always more okay with talking and being around boys. Most of the trainers my mom would hire were men. My friend ms back home were mainly boys. They seemed less judgmental then most girls and never really talked behind my back.
"Do you think he's only playing with her as a form of charity work?" I herd a group of girls taking in the distance. Stoping me in my tracks as I walked to the free throw line. I clenched the ball tightly as I felt tears begin to form. How could I forget who I was. What I was. Just another mistake and another pittiful-
"Hey! You gunna shoot or just stand there?" The boy said as he patted my head. "Maybe I should just shoot by my self." He said teasingly.
"Oh. Here." I said said handing him the ball. "I found it here. You can keep it" I began to walk away.
"Hey. Are you sure you don't want to shoot around more?" I looked back to see him looking down at the ball in his hands with a light smile. "I just got back from America. It's been a while."
"I just arrived here too." I said looking down at my feet.
"So what's he rush?" He bounced the ball toward me. "No thank you. The sun is setting and I... will.."
       "Huh? You what?"
       "I don't know where I live..."
He laughed loudly and smiled. "Do you at least have an address?"
"Y-yeah." My face was burning red from embarrassment.
"Well. He sighed. I can't just let a lost girl wonder around by her self."  He walked up and picked up my two bags in just on of his arms. "So what's your address?"
I handed him the paper that had my address. "I don't even know where we are right now."
"Huh. It's a bit of a walk from here but don't worry. We'll get there." He said with a smile.
As we began to walk I finally noticed how little we had spoken while we played. I'm letting a strange boy walks me home. In a new strange place. I slowly grabbed on to the boys shirt and slowly my grip grew with the more I thought. I really hope he's in my school. Then I'd have a friend. Maybe then I wouldn't be so afraid. Maybe then my life would change. I began to smile to my self.
"Hey." The boy finally spoke up.
       "Yeah?" I said softly.
"In the future. You really shouldn't let strangers walk you home."
"I know." I said looking down at my feet.
"Then why are you letting me walk you home?"
"Your gunna think it's stupid if I tell you."
"Either way I'm gunna think your stupid for letting a stranger escort you home. Your parents are probably gunna through a fit."
"I saw a dove. It flew over head and the sky was so blue as I say it."
"Huh. That's weird. I a dove flew over my head today too."
"Maybe we were meant to run into each other." I blushed and turned my head quickly. I didn't just say that. I looked up a little at him and saw him smile.
"We both did just get here. Maybe they don't want us to be alone." His eyes wides slightly at his words and he began to blush. "Sorry. I didn't mean to sound so... well romantically."
"It's okay. I'm (Y/N) by the way."
"Oh, I'm Kagami."
We talked the rest of the way as if we were old friends catching up after being away for a long time. Once we got to the front of the apartment door he sheepishly smiled at me.
"Well I should go. I really don't want your parents to get upset with you."
"Oh... yeah." I smiled and I opened the door slightly, "thank you."
"Wait." He said as he handed me the ball. "Here. Keep it." He lightly tossed the ball up so that I could catch it. "As a memento. In case we don't see each other ever again or some thing." He turned and walked away, "good night" he said before turning a corner.
