Zoey's POV
I stayed in bed all day yesterday, and I intend to do the same thing today.

Until, I hear a knock at my door.
"Come in," I mutter.
Ricky comes in, takes the sheets off of me, and says, "Get up and get dressed, we're doing something today."
"No," I say, turning over in bed.
"Yes," he says, picking me up and giving me my brush and clothes. He pushes me into the bathroom.

I brush my hair, wash my face, and get dressed

I brush my hair, wash my face, and get dressed.
I walk out of the bathroom.

"Ricky, I'm ready," I call to him.
He comes down the hall and says, "There's my sister."
He hugs me, and I hug him back.
"So where are we going today?" I ask.
"It's a surprise," Ricky says, releasing me and pulling me outside to his car.
"So close your eyes. It's not a long trip," he tells me.
"Okay," I say, closing my eyes.

I feel the car move with me as we stop, speed up, and slow down. After a few more minutes, I feel the car come to a complete stop.

"Okay, one second," Ricky says.
He comes around the car and opens the door for me. He then guides me somewhere.
"Open your eyes," he tells me.
I open my eyes to see the park. This isn't just any park, it's the park where we first met Emery. I haven't been back here in a while.
"Ricky, why would you-" I get cut off by someone playing the guitar.

I turn around to see Emery standing behind the swing set with his guitar.
He plays a soft melody and soon starts to sing.

•song: "Compass" by Forever in Your Mind - the music video is attached above•
(Italics- Zoey's thoughts/ narration)

"I know that I never got to tell you
Everything that you deserve to hear
Trapped inside a picture frame
Am I just another name
Hanging onto you, do you hear?
Got a million miles worth of sorries
Never took the chance to say goodbye
Reaching out across the blue
To put myself right back to you
Stuck here drawing maps across the sky

Hold on
Hold on for dear life
One last time

Hit by the waves
Caught in a shipwreck
Oh, I'm breaking for you
I may be lost
But my heart's the compass
Oh, it points back to you
It points back to you"

He walks around the swing set, coming closer to me.

"I never should have taken you for granted
But should've would've could've never helps
I miss you being next to me
A victim of reality
Knowing that you might have someone else
We were always thinking bout tomorrow
But now I'm feeling stuck in yesterday
The comfort that we left behind
Is something that we lost in time
And now I'm gonna find another way

To hold on
Hold on for dear life
One last try

Hit by the waves
Caught in a shipwreck
Oh, I'm breaking for you
I may be lost
But my heart's the compass
Oh, it points back to you

It points back to you
It points back to you"

He walks up to me, so we're face to face.

"I know that we tried
But somehow we fell from the sky
I just hope that time
Can breathe our old wings back to life
Hit by the waves
Caught in a shipwreck
Oh, I'm breaking for you

Hit by the waves
Caught in a shipwreck
Oh, I'm breaking for you
I may be lost
But my heart's the compass
Oh, it points back to you

It points back to you
It points back to you"

•end of song•

I have tears in my eyes as he finishes the song. He leans his guitar against the swing set and turns back to me, looking at me with passion and hope.

"You really think that I could just forgive you that easy? After everything you said to me? After everything you put me through?" I ask.
He looks down.
I take both of his hands in mine, and he looks up at me again.
"Because if you do, then you're absolutely correct," I say and kiss him with all of the passion in my body.
We pull away, and I lean my forehead on his.
"Zoey Garcia, you're the only girl for me, you're the only girl I'll ever want, I love you, I'm in love with you. Will you be my girlfriend?" he asks, looking deeply into my eyes.
"Yes," I say and kiss him again.
"Hey! Zoey, what did I say about PDA in front of me?" Ricky yells, breaking us apart from each other.
"Fuck off Ricky," Emery and I yell.
After laughing at ourselves, Emery looks back at me and quietly sings, "It points back to you."
I kiss him again with even more passion than before.
