Chapter 19 I will destroy them
“So, how many?” I asked. We, Cay, Ash, myself, Annabelle, Jeremy and Marcus, were all sitting around in his office trying to work numbers, see what we are up against. It had been confirmed earlier when Jeremy came in to see Marcus, while he was using me as a pillow, that Miguel in fact, had stationed a stand against us, his forces were strong and trained, not good.
Right now we are trying to figure out how many men have gone missing and what has been taken from army stores and the like.
“So far” Jeremy said “We have at least twenty trained men from each full pack, that’s not including any Rogues or singletons. We have over one hundred residual packs, that have over a two hundred population. We are looking at some big numbers. I know we have several thousand Rogues, some that are with packs and others that aren’t. We have tried to get the ones associated with packs to become part of one but so far none have confirmed any joining.”
“So we are looking at around a five hundred mark right now, because you can assume that at least twenty percent of the Rogues will join soon enough, including he ones he already has. So right now Miguel has a couple hundred or so, of strong fighters and is just increasing in numbers at a daily rate.
“We have sent word for the ones we don’t have yet, but you have obtained quite a few of their mates, that will come in handy, no mate will attack their own. Don’t even start Jeremy, you know that any one with a mate, will go to the aid of their own, I know for a fact that if you attacked me right now, Cay and Ash would rip you in two. It makes no difference who they fight against if their mate is in trouble and it would benefit us for a surrender if we have them. No I’m not saying we hurt them or use them, just let them be known, it will make them back track a bit, they wont expect it.” I said, maybe a little bit to harshly but they needed to see what was at stake.
“Your right” Jeremy sighed. He looked defeated, and honestly I felt bad about it. We had been in here talking for well over six hours, lunch and dinner were both brought here, and we were now heading on to seven at night, It has been a long day.
“Alright so what do we have?..... We have four hundred ready on command in the immediate area, correct?” I waited for a nod, when I got it I went on “We have almost a thousand on reserve from all packs, who swore to their own counsel they would protect the crown?” again a non “And in rogues, almost six hundred men and women who have stayed loyal but a separate part of counsel rule?” again a nod “Okay so if you look at numbers we are good, but that doesn’t mean anything to Miguel, he will have all this knowledge, we need something he wont know of.... we need something he wont expect..... we need something never done...” I trailed off as my brain went onto overdrive trying to work this out. I wasn’t a strategist, I wasn’t an army person I didn’t know this type of thing, I knew how to fight like the best of them but this was beyond me, and yet at the same time it wasn’t, how weird is that?
“Well we could always use Magic” said Jeremy quietly from the side of the room. Every head in that room snapped over to him, a clear look of 'what are you talking about?' was sent to him. “Alright hear me out.... When I was young my Dad told my brothers and I about this woman to come. He said that she would preserve the right and direct the bad, he said that this woman would carry the 'Magic' of our kind, have full ties to light and dark, I think he was talking about Akira. Now when he would tell us stories we always thought it was a load of make believe crap, I mean come on, one person to do all that and save so many, no one is that good. But at the same time there was something when he said it. I later found out that he had a gift, one no one knew about, only our mother. He could see things, never the outcome but always the start and the reason behind it. I just remembered a story he once told me about a young woman and her knights.” His eyes took on a far away look as his mind and mouth began the story.
