When Kate first joined NCIS, she'd expected Gibbs to drill her hard and be an awful boss.
That was not what she got.
No. What she got, was a caring boss who hid underneath a hard exterior and tried to teach them how to be the best they possible could.
Of course, she'd never admit this to his face because he'd deny it.
Gibbs was also protective. This was a proven fact. He's very protective over the people he calls family.
Several found this out the hard way.
Like Ari Haswari when Gibbs put a bullet in his shoulder.
"Tony, that bastard's got her." Gibbs spoke softly and he sounded calm, but Tony knew better than anyone that when one of his own was in trouble, Gibbs was anything but.
"Boss-" Tony was cut off by the gray haired male as Gibbs yelled. "He's got her," and walked off, leaving the brunette girl at the elevator with hurt written in her eyes.
They'd gotten the call and Ari had met them. Gibbs' heart pounded hard, he could hear his pulse in his ears. Gibbs walked over to the body, praying that it wasn't his nightmare come true.
What he found was the body of the Swed that Tony had been talking about all day.
As much as he despiesed the life this man had lived and hated that he'd played part in kidnapping Kate and he was prepared to kill Tony to prove their fucking point, Gibbs hadn't wanted to see anyone go out like that. As much as he was relieved it wasn't Kate in the bag, he hadn't wanted to see this man, Marto dead either.
So as he left, he pulled back the safety of his gun and lined up a shot. Part for his shoulder that he'd spent weeks in rehab for, but mostly for Kate because this man had screwed up when he and his friends kidnapped her.
The fact that he shot the exact same place Gibbs himself had been shot in was just pure luck.
Alright! My first NCIS book! This is a four part book set in the first/second season. Four chapters and I'm done. Okay? Okay.
