The Morning After

(The Next Morning)

(Heather's alarm clock goes off sounding like a siren to her)

Heather- (rolled over in her bed and covered her head with a pillow) turn it off

Jamie- (walked over to the side of Heather's bed and turned off her alarm clock)

Heather- uncovered her head remind me again why I signed up for Saturday classes

Jamie- because your mom made you, here (she said handing her a glass of water and some aspirin)

Heather- where'd you go last night (she said them took the aspirin and took a big gulp of water)

Jamie- I met this guy (she said then sat down on her bed)

Heather- yeah I saw you two together last night so what did you guys do

Jamie- we just talked

Heather- you just talked? you didn't at least kiss?

Jamie- no

Heather- I'll never understand you (she said then got off of her bed) I'm going to get ready (she said then got some clothes out of the closet and walked out of the room closing the door behind her)

Jamie- (heard her phone ring, got up off of her bed, walked over to her desk, picked up her phone, looked at it, then answered it) hey Dad

David- hey sweetie sorry I didn't call yesterday to wish you a happy birthday (he said holding his phone up to his ear with his shoulder while looking at Case Files)

Jamie- that's okay I know you've been busy

David- I don't think busy is a strong enough word I'm defending like twenty people this month

Karen- (knocked on David's door)

David- come in (he told Karen) I'm telling you Jamie it's just crazy here

Karen- hey, I've got another one for you (she said then laid the case file on his desk the left the room)

David- gee thanks (he said to Karen) I'm seriously thinking about early retirement (he said to Jamie)

Jamie- please dad you'd want to go back in a week you can't go a day without working you haven't had a day off in three months

David- yeah you're probably right (he said then put down his case files and held his phone in his hand)

Jamie- (sat down at her desk)

David- hey, have you been watching the news?

Jamie- no, why

David- well some people have been breaking into New York museums and stealing items from them

Jamie- really?

David- yeah but I'm sure we'll catch them soon look I got to go or I'll be here all night

Jamie- alright I'll talk to you later

David- alright love you bye

Jamie- love you too (she said then hung up her phone laid, it on her desk, opened her laptop, and started to work on her English paper)
