"Hey, Lance, can I talk to you for a minute?" Shiro requested quietly, a small frown on his face.

"Sure," Lance shrugged, turning and follow the Black Paladin away from the group. It had been another hour and a half, and Keith still hadn't spoken a word. To anyone. He just silently worked, cutting away at the Galra contraptions, a dark look in his eyes with every slice. Shiro turned to Lance, crossing his arms over his chest.

"It's been almost three hours and you and Keith haven't argued about a single thing. He seems a bit upset. The last thing he did was argue with you. What did you say to him?" he inquired. Lance frowned, crossing his arms in a stubborn manner.

"How do you know it's my fault?" he challenged. Shiro simply raised an eyebrow, and Lance sighed, letting his arms fall. He looked down at his feet.

"I... I pulled the Galra card," he mumbled. The Black Paladin's eyes widened a bit.

"Lance!" he expressed, unable to hide his shock. The Blue Paladin allowed himself a small flinch.

"It just slipped out!" he tried to defend himself, though he knew there was no point. Shiro pursed his lips, trying not to be irritated with the two headstrong teens.

"What exactly did you say?" Lance shuffled his feet, rubbing the back of his neck awkwardly. He didn't want to say it again.

"I, uh... I said that we should leave him here with the rest of the worthless Galra trash..." he admitted quietly. Before Shiro could comment, he spoke up again, his voice almost desperate. "I didn't mean it! I didn't even think he'd heard me until he stopped talking!" He glanced over his shoulder at the paladin in question before turning back to Shiro.

"I took it too far, I'm sorry." The Black Paladin shook his head.

"Don't apologize to me, apologize to him," he told him. Lance's face fell, imagining the humiliation of having to apologize to his rival.

"What?! Can't you just tell him that I'm sorry?" he whined. Shiro frowned sternly at him.

"If you really are sorry, then go and tell him that. Any other way doesn't count," he insisted. Lance pursed his lips for a moment before sighing.

"Fine," he grumbled, turning away from Shiro to talk to the Red Paladin. Shiro sighed, looking after him. Why couldn't they just get along?

Lance rubbed the back of his neck as he approached the other paladin, who was currently trying to cut through a rather large piece of Galra tech.

"Hey, Keith," Lance began. The teen acted as if he hadn't heard anything, simply swinging his bayard through the air again and slicing deeper into the metal. "Do you...need any help?" Again, his words were greeted with silence. He pursed his lips as Keith slammed his foot against the serated metal and it bust apart, clearing the path. The Red Paladin moved onto the next object.

"Keith, just listen to me for a minute, okay?" The desperation in his voice was enough to make Keith hesitate, halting him in his steps, even though he didn't turn around or address the other paladin. Lance figured that was as good as he was going to get right now.

"I'm sorry. I really am. I shouldn't have said what I did, I didn't mean it, I just..." he struggled to find the right words. Apologizing was difficult. "Look, I say a lot of stupid things, alright? We were arguing, and I just..." Keith cut him off, turning around, his arms crossed.

"If I say that I forgive you, will you leave me alone?" he growled. Lance pursed his lips.

"Yeah, but..."

"Then apology accepted. Now get out of my face." Keith spun on his heel and got back to work. Lance stood there for a moment, a bit stunned. He opened his mouth to say something else, then seemed to think better of it. He sighed and walked away, going back over to held Pidge and Hunk. Keith watched him go out of the corner of his eye, his stomach churning. He had almost let himself forget... the fact of it was ever present, like a stubborn fly around his head, but he had almost let himself get used to the buzzing... Guess the world had other plans. Even if his heritage explained quite a few strange occurrences in his life, it made his blood boil, and bile rise in his throat.
