"You can't be an artist, that's unrealistic Phil" his mother says In a soft but stern tone. Phil looks to his father, who always seemed to support his decisions.
"Your mothers right, you need a job that pays a lot" his father said agreeing with his mum. Phil was quite upset, his parents were always supportive in everything he does. But why not now, this is something he loves to do and his parents knew that. That's all he ever wanted to be since he could remember, an artist who inspired people with his works of art."You need a career, like a doctor or even an accountant" his mother stressed "those pay a good amount, unlike an... Artists" his mum said like the word offended her. That was it Phil had enough he stormed up the stairs to his room and slammed the door.
He just didn't understand, what's wrong with being an artist.

10 years later Phils pov
"Hey Phil, wait up mate!" I heard my friend Chris shouting after me. I wasn't in the mood for talking to anyone I just wanted to get through the day as soon as possible, but he caught up to me of course.
"Hey what's up you usually wait for me so we can walk to class together" Chris says with a concerned tone. Oh and if you haven't guessed I'm in university right now or what I like to call it prison. I'm studying to become an accountant, who would of guessed. I really don't want to be an accountant, but I'm doing it to make my parents happy. I really just want to do art, but like my parents tell me every day since I told them this 10 years ago "it's unrealistic".
"I'm just not in the mood today Chris, I just want to get out of this hell hole as soon as possible" I said true-fully, he knows why so there's no point in lying.
"You know I don't understand why you can't just stand up to your parents" he said annoyed "if you don't want to be an accountant, then don't be one who cares what they think, your 25 you can make your own decisions" he says as though it's as easy as he says.
"WELL I CARE!!" I practically shout " it not just that easy, I don't want to be an even bigger disappointment to them, this is the one thing that I'm doing that makes them happy, ok! " I don't understand why he always brings this up I tell him the same thing every time. I'm not going to just stop now I'm to far in, and it's my last year mind as well finish.
"Well damn my bad, someone woke up on the right side of the bed obviously " he said with he usual sarcastic tone. I didn't say anything else what's the point.
We walk in silence the rest of the way to class. We had art the only class I look forward too, for obvious reasons. We sat in are usual spots in the back right corner. It was quite a small room, the school didn't invest a lot into the art department. Which sucks cause art is just as important as any other subjects. I hate when people can't appreciate art.
Class was about to start when the door burst open and there stood a tall lengthy guy with Carmel brown hair styled in a fringe similar to mine but goes to the left and deep chocolate eyes that were filled with embarrassment for slamming the door open. He was wearing black head to toe. Wow, I can tell he wears a lot of color.
"Umm......s-sorry, I didn't mean to do that" he said shyly and flustered rubbing the back of his neck. He hurriedly took a seat in the only opened spot, which happened to be next to me. Great, I hope his not a talkative person cause like I said I'm not in the mood. But his kinda cute so I wouldn't mind as much to be honest. Oh yah, I'm gay by the way. Another reason I'm a disappointment to my parents, so there's that.
We were 10 minutes in to class taking notes about art history, which I quite like its cool learning about early art it's quite fascinating, but I'm getting off topic. The brown haired boy sitting next to me leans over
"hey my names Dan, what's yours" he whispers energetically. And of course like I said I'm not in the greatest mood so I replied with
"I'm trying to pay attention"I said bitterly" well it's nice to meet you trying to pay attention, I feel like we're going to get a long quite well" he a bit to enthusiastic for my liking.
"Well I'm glad you feel that way,but I'm not really trying to make any new friends so yeah" I said a bit rudely.
"O'really" he said with a smirk and winked at me. I just rolled my eyes, and continued writing notes. We didn't talk the rest of class, but I couldn't help but sneak glances at him here and there. He's quite an interesting character.
