13 - Re-Visiting The Past

~Uta Pov~

I really didn't want to leave Kaneki but I knew I couldn't take him with me. Whoever made that loud crash downstairs is probably not friendly. Plus whoever they are they most likely came here because they heard about Kaneki and I and decided to attack. It could be anyone... I've made a lot of enemies none of whom concern me much... I could easily take care of them. What concerns me is if a few or more of my strongest enemies decided to attack me as a group.

But.... I have Kaneki to worry about now...

I walked downstairs everything looked normal except for the door. It was broken almost off the hinges.

Whoever they are... they definitely know how to hide their scent because I can't tell who they are. I tuned into my hearing and closed my eyes. There was two of them....one was lurking in the shadows and the other is behind me ready to attack. Right as the one behind me jumped to attack me I dodged their attack.

I was about to kick the woman from the back when the other ghouls kagune held all my limbs so I could move. I was about to break out of their hold when the girl turned around...

I stood frozen in place not moving even a little even though I could if I wanted to. I couldn't believe my eyes they were playing cruel tricks on me... at least I hope they were. My voice was barely a whisper but still I managed to speak.

"Ruka....?"

~Kaneki Pov~

I found my hiding spot under the bed and stayed there hoping and praying that Uta would be okay that it would be a false alarm and it was just some kids being little delinquents.

I stayed under the bed listening for any signs of Uta coming back upstairs or worse case scenario of people fighting.

At first I heard nothing it was dead silent until I heard something drop to the floor and then I heard grunts.... oh no! Someone is fighting Uta!

"Please Please Please Please Please Please" I whispered to myself not really sure if I was begging for this to end or for Uta to be okay or for this to all just be a dream but I didn't really care how I just wanted Uta safe in my arms.

I stayed put like I was told until I heard the screaming. I couldn't take it anymore I had to do something.

~Uta Pov~

"Why? Why now." My voice was still just a whisper.

She faked a frown "What? You're not happy to see me Uta? But I thought you loved me?"

"Shut up! What would you know of love!"

"Well some would say I've never experienced the real thing, that I don't even have a heart but I have a heart it was just shattered. So I think I know more about love than you'd think"

"I really do hope that someday you'll fall in love only for it to destroy you!"

"Oh you're so mean...but honey I already have...and you're quite the heartbreaker yourself aren't you?" She chuckled "you've been busy crushing girls and boys hearts haven't you?"

"I told all of them from the start I wasn't looking for anything.... it's not my fault they didn't listen."

"Have you mentioned this to your new play thing?What would little Kaneki think?"
