It was July of 2003 when Stike Children's Hospital opened up. Everyone was hesitant at going there, though, due to their unique practices. Unlike any other hospital, they only relied on one thing. It was a special medicine that the hospital claimed could heal any child. No one dared to take their child to the hospital, until Luci Grey.

Luci Grey was a very special case. Her mom had died during childbirth and her dad was unknown. She was born with just about every sickness known to man. It was a miracle that she did not die. The first two years of her life, she lived in a hospital, getting little human contact. As time went on, there was little hope she would survive to three. That was until Stike got word of the child.

It had been a month since the hospital had opened and no one had come. When word went out about Luci, a doctor by the name of Jack Mitchell jumped at the opportunity. He knew if they saved Luci, all would come around the world to the hospital. Dr. Mitchell called Luci's hospital and within a week, Luci was at Stike Children's Hospital.

For several weeks, Dr. Mitchell spent every day with Luci. He talked to her, fed her, played with her, and gave her the medicine. On Luci's third birthday, it seemed as if Luci was a normal child. The medicine had saved her. When people got word of Luci Grey's story, they came from all over the world to witness the miracle and bring their own children to be saved. Luci continued to live in the hospital, not having anywhere else to go. She played with the sick children and brought joy to their faces. Being in a hospital wasn't fun for young children, but Luci tried her best to make it the most fun place in the world.

The hospital ran with great success with Jack's miracle medicine saving 511 children that were brought in from different cases. With Luci's kind-hearted, loving spirit filling the hospital, it seemed as if nothing could ever go wrong. It appeared as if where ever Luci went, she brought the life into people, keeping them out of the darkness. That was until the side effects of the meds finally kicked in.

When Dr. Mitchell had created the medicine, he knew there would be side effects, but after several years of Luci living a perfectly normal childhood, he started to doubt there were any. Little did he know, Luci had the side effect all those years at the hospital. The medicine hadn't saved any of the other kids, it was Luci's powers. The only thing his medicine had successfully done was to enhance the children's DNA, giving them abilities they never had before.

No one realized it was Luci actually curing the other kids, until the day Luci got sick. It had been five years since she was first brought in. The day seven-year-old Luci started coughing and falling ill was the day all the other children at the hospital also fell ill. The hospital was full of darkness and pain. Whenever and wherever Luci wandered through the hall, children would become nauseous and collapse.

By day two of the crisis, Dr. Mitchell started to realize Luci was the cause of all the illness. He did everything he could to separate his patients from Luci. When three children died within an hour of each other, he closed the hospital down, apologizing to all the parents and wishing them luck as they were transferred to another hospital. He sent the nurses and other doctors away and took full responsibility for all that had happened. He was so focused on Luci, he never considered other children could have the side effects.

He stayed at the hospital with Luci, trying to cure her once more. She was now as sick as she had been five years before. He knew that if she could just control her powers, she would be okay, but helping her try to control them was more difficult than he could have ever imagined.

A month after the incident, parents began to sue Dr. Mitchell for what had happened. Some children were starting to have side effects similar to Luci's but with different powers. Oddly, the abilities seemed to relate to what brought them into the hospital. Jack Mitchell did his best to fix his mistakes, but in the end, he was arrested and sentenced to ten years in prison. To protect Luci, he said she had died during the incident. However, she was alone by herself in the empty hospital, too scared to leave.

Over the next ten years, Luci matured and learned how to control her powers to the best of her ability, she wandered through towns, staying low while keeping the hospital as her home base. She would watch the news at cafes about more children possessing special abilities similar to hers, but she never told anyone who she was or what she could do. That was until she met up with Dr. Mitchell once again.
