I walked into the lunch room, keeping my head low, not wanting to be noticed. I stood in the lunch line quietly waiting my turn. All I had to do was get through one more week and I would finally be done with high school. No more bullies. No more homework. No more hiding my secret. It will just be me and my car touring the world, not having to worry about a single thing.

"Hey!" Someone yelled at me. "Move forward, loser. You're holding up the line." I looked and saw that I was about five feet behind the person in front of me so I stepped forward.

It was another five minutes before I finally got to the front of the line and got my food, pizza. Then, I headed towards my usual table, which was in the corner by the trashcans. Every few steps I took towards the table, I either got bumped into or tripped. As you can tell, most people either ignore me or are just jerks to me.

My friend, Lucas, was already at the table, eating his spaghetti. Lucas is at the bottom of the school's totem pole, like me. Both of us our outcasts who are bullied and pushed around. Lucas is a tall, muscular guy who could take on the whole football team if he wanted to. I, however, am one of the most average guys in the school. I am average height, average weight, brown hair and brown eyes. The only unique thing about me, I keep a secret.

"Sometimes, I wonder why you even need your power, man. You manage to make yourself invisible without even using your ability," Lucas said to me. I truly wish I would have never let it slip to him that I could go invisible at will. All Lucas wants to do is talk about my powers. I'm shocked no one has heard him talk about it the thousand times he has mentioned it.

"The next time you mention the word invisible, I am going to kill you," I said to him.

"What? I'm just saying. You could do anything you wanted in this school, without using your power and not get caught," Lucas said. "Going in girl's locker rooms. Changing grades in teacher's offices. Sneak out."

"Dude. Shut up. I did not ask for these powers." I grouchily said to him. Then started to take a bite out of my pizza.

"Just once, try to enjoy your like, Max. You're always such a buzzkill. If I had your powers, I'd have so much fun."

"Can you just drop it. I want to get through my senior year without anyone else finding out. I would rather just keep my head low, Lucas." As I said that out loud, my mind started to side with Lucas. But I shoved those thoughts back. "I don't need my powers. I want to survive without having to use them."

"You sure you don't want to use your powers, man? Not even once? Tree is headed over and he looks pissed."

"Lucas. Shut the hell up! Tree isn't here. He's in ISS, still. You can't trick me to use my powers." I grabbed my plate and flung myself out of my seat. As I did, I rammed into someone, almost knocking them over and getting their food spilt on them. "Sorry, I didn't---." I started to apologize until I realized who it was.

Before I had time to react, Tree yelled "Bonner," followed by a lot of cussing and threats, which I'd not like to repeat. Just to give you an idea, Tree is the biggest, most feared jerk in the school. None of the students calls him by his real name. He makes everyone call him Tree. Why? I don't know. Probably because his head is as hollow as a tree.

"Hey, Tree. How are you doing?" I responded to him, as I slowly started to back away. In the first grade, I had dared to play on "his playground" without his permission. He beat me up pretty bad and since then, he has always come at me.

"I'm about to be doing really good in just a minute. I'm about to make the world free of a loser." Tree said. For some reason, at that moment, my adrenaline kicked in and my anger got to me. You know what? Screw being the bullied, quiet kid.
