The day started out like other day, a day where I didn't want to go to school, a day where I thought I would come home again. It was fourth period English class, just another one of Mr. Jacobson's boring lectures. I was secretly texting with my best friend, Summer, who was on the other side of the room. I didn't notice the police officer who had just walked in. "Miss Skye, gather your things and step outside please." Mr. Jacobson said sheepishly. I was confused, but I shut off my phone, gathered my things, walked out of the classroom. The police officer was waiting outside the classroom for me. "Excuse me sir, but was is going on?" I asked. " I'm very sorry to inform you this, but your parents have perished in a car crash" the officer said, trying to be sensitive. I just stood there a million thoughts racing through my mind. My knees were shaking and I didn't know what to think or say, but one thing was clear. "Where is my sister?" I said with no emotion of any sorts. My twin sister had to have not known before me right? She would have texted or called, or told me in some way right? "I was going to ask you the same thing Miss, your sister is missing, she wasn't in the car with your parents" the officer replied. My world fell apart before me, as I fell to the ground. " Miss, stay with me please!" the officer shouted, pulling me up from the ground. "Your 18th birthday is tomorrow, so until then you have to stay in your grandparents care, that is your parents instructions in their will." the officer stated. My grandparents? I thought to myself, I've never met them in my life! No one in my house had ever even brought up their names. "Then tomorrow you will receive your parents estate, and their money, they left almost everything to you.  Now follow me to my car, it's time you meet your Grandparents. Oh and by the way, my name is Officer Mike." he said turning around walking to the door. I nodded my head and followed Officer Mike into his car. The way there was mostly silence, until we were almost there. " You will be staying with your dad's parents, their names are Dave and Shirley, but you will be calling them Grandma and Grandpa. We pulled into a nice neighborhood and after a few turns, Officer Mike pulled into a drive way of a small, but nice cottage house. "We're here!" Officer Mike exclaimed, as if it was a happy normal visit to my grandparents home. I stepped out of the car, slung my backpack over my shoulder, walked up to the house, and knocked on the front door. Not knowing what was awaiting on the other side of the door
