I wandered through the woods, far from home. My cloak was getting caught on snags and torn to rags. I heard a twig snap behind me, causing me to whirl around, my pale blonde hair going in my face. There coming towards was a young with fair skin, and green eyes that shone like emeralds. He had midnight black hair, that had two tufts that looked like wolf ears. I slowly started backing away from him, feeling the sense of panic building inside of me. I felt my back hit a tree and the panic exploded. He walked closer to me and then spoke.
"You're very far from home."
I shivered at the sound of his voice. It almost sounded like a growl mixed with words into it. I shrunk as far as I could into the tree when he started to reach out towards me.
"Don't be afraid. You can trust me Lilac." He whispered in my ear.
"H-h-how do you k-know my n-n-name?" I asked, trembling in fear.
"We come from the same town Lilac. You can trust me."
He then once again reached out towards me. A feeling of dread was slowly building up inside me. But knowing that I had no other choice, I put my hand in his and let him guide me. We were walking deeper into the forest, the trees clustered so close together that the moonlight barely filtered any lights through the trees. There were rocks everywhere that I kept stumbling on. I could hear animals scurrying about around me, causing me to jump every time one ran in front of me. I start to feel the dread building up in my stomach again.
"You are taking me home, right?" I ask hesitantly.
"Of course, Lilac. I already told you that we are from the same town." He answered without hesitation.
"I have never seen you in my town before though." I replied.
He looked at me with a strange look in his eyes, as if he was pondering something before he answered.
"Lilac I have always been there. Even when you think you are alone, I am there. It's your own fault for not opening your eyes Lilac." He answered, a menacing look in his eyes.
I froze, fear in my eyes. Many thoughts were running through my head, like whether I should turn and run, and hope that I get to town on my own. As if he read my mind, he turned and looked at me a humorless smile on his face, his green eyes glinting.
"If you try to find town on your own you will die, I will not hurt you, but if you run all the animals that stalk us will kill you, and me, as soon as we separate. Therefore, for both your and my safety, we need to stick together." He said watching me closely with his eyes.
I looked all around me and sure enough there were eyes everywhere. Their bodies hidden in the darkness of the trees. Confusion built up inside of me. I was positive those eyes weren't there before.
"Are you read to go now?"
My head snapped back over to him. I knew I had no other choice but to follow the strange boy, hoping that he truly did know the way back home. I nodded my head at him and then we started walking again. We walked a little while longer, until we entered a giant clearing, the man going and standing in the middle.
"What are you doing?" I ask curiosity and fear welling up inside of me again.
"I'm sorry," He said looking at me, "But I'm not the alpha. I have no choice. I have to do what he says or it could end badly for all of us."
"What are you talking about? What are we doing here? What do you mean by alpha?" I asked all of these questions at once it seemed.
He then lifted his head, and looked around, causing me to do the same thing. All around us were those same eyes as before. This time you could clearly tell that they belonged to the giant bodies of wolves. I gasped stumbling backwards, focused on all of the wolves around me, until I heard a gurgling noise. Snapping my head back to the direction of the young man, I gasped in horror what I saw. There he was, where he stood before, but now their was coarse hair poking out all of the pores on his body. His face was elongating, his mouth and nose coming together to form a snout of a wolf. I could hear snapping of bones as his arms and legs snapped, mutated, bending backwards and snapping into different places. He was groaning, his face wrinkled up in pain. With one last pop and crack, all of his human features gone, instead of a man, a giant wolf stood in front of me, with the same piercing green eyes as the boy. He looked at me and growled, causing me to come back to my senses. I turned and ran into the forest, hearing his paws hit the ground behind me, coming closer. I turned around a corner, causing me to stumble and fall. I felt sticks cut me and rocks dig into my skin. I watch the wolf approach me as I lay on my back, all hopes gone. The wolf walked up to me putting his front paws on each of my forearms, pinning me down. His claws digged in causing blood to well up and pour out all around me. Barely conscious, I watched as the wolf turned back into the man that I had originally followed. He looked at me with pure sadness in his eyes.
"The halo of red surrounds thee." I heard him whisper.
Using all of my last strength I managed to whisper, "The halo of death around my head," before I lost all consciousness, the world around me going black.
He picked up her body and held her in his arms, her body lost all of its warmth. He felt the anger and pain build up inside him. He loved her, she was the one he told himself he would never hurt, and he lied. The pack of wolves gathered around him, the alpha in the front. He looked at the alpha with pure hatred in his eyes. Why couldn't he have let her live? The alpha slowly turned into a human and walked up to him.
"You know why we couldn't let her live." The alpha said looking the younger male in the eyes.
"But she didn't deserve this. She didn't even know what she was." The man replied, his voice shaking with grief.
The alpha looked at him with pity before he turned and left, leaving the young man in the woods, holding onto the body of his dearly beloved crying into the night with the wail of wolves in the distance.
A.N. If enough people want, I will turn this into an actual series that explains everything. Anyway thank you for reading and I appreciate you all.
