The next morning was a Monday so I had to go to school. However, I pulled a Winchester and skipped school to go out to a cafe downtown. I had to walk to the bus stop first because Dad was watching but when he left I made a run for it.
The air downtown was stuffy and I coughed a few times. I have slight Asthma but I don't really need an inhaler unless I panic. Unfortunately, that happens more often than it should.
Once I got to the cafe I walked through the door. The bell set at the top of the door rang to announce my arrival. The building was about half full of people, so I could still pick my own seat. I walked over to a table in the corner with no people surrounding it. After sitting down, I checked my phone to make sure Dad hadn't realized I had skipped and texted. Instead, I found that Sam had texted.
"Great," I thought, "just what I need."
I sighed and opened the text.
Moose: Hey. Saw you skipped.
d_Anna: Oh. Yeah about that...
Moose: Don't worry, I won't tell Dean.
d_Anna: Thanks
Moose: I'll pick you up from wherever you are if you want.
d_Anna: Really? That would be great. I'm in a small Cafe downtown. I'll text you when I've finished eating.
Moose: You got it.
I looked up from my phone and noticed that a waitress had come to take my order. After checking the menu, I ordered a small coffee (black of course) and a stack of pancakes. Soon after I had ordered, I got back on my phone.
Eventually, My food arrived so I set my phone down again and ate. Before I finished eating, my phone buzzed and I picked it up.
Moose: Coming to pick you up
d_Anna: Alright
I quickly sent him the address to the cafe and finished eating.
Sure enough, a little while later, Sam was at the door waving to me. I grabbed my things and went to the door to meet him.
"Hey Sammy," I smiled, greeting him.
He grinned at me.
"Can we go home?" I asked Sam.
He laughed, "You and your Dad just can't lie to each other can you?"

20 minutes later, I sat in the backseat of Sam's car.
When Sam parked in front of the house, I half expected Dad to come running out.
As soon as I got through the door, the panic attack started. I stood in front of the doorway with my things, mentally freaking out. Eventually, I took a few steps, looked around, then bolted up the stairs to my room for my inhaler. Sam came through the door after me. When he saw that I was nowhere in sight, he called my name. Dad walked in from the other room.
"She's at school remember?" he told Sam.
Sam gave Dean a grim look.
Dad realized what this meant and shouted, "Deanna you'd better get down here and explain yourself this second! And well too young lady!"
I sprinted down the stairs as fast as I could not wanting to make him any angrier. When I walked into the room, Dad exploded.
"That's the fourth time in two weeks!" he shouted at me.
I stared at him wide-eyed then grabbed my inhaler out of my pocket and used it. Dad's face softened.
"I'm sorry, I know it's hard for you," he told me, "I was just like you when I was your age."
I smiled and tried to picture Dad at my age, running around at different Cafes and skipping school a lot.
Seeing my smile, Dad laughed, "OK, maybe not exactly like you, but personality wise."
I nodded and smiled again.
Sam's eyes widened.
"Oh!" he exclaimed, "I just remembered Deanna! You're turning 13 in two days!"
My eyes widened too. Birthdays are loosely celebrated in my house, sometimes we remember, other times not.
"You know what kid," Dad told me, "this year, since you're turning 13 so you can have a few presents."
I looked at him, completely shocked and surprised that he had said that. Presents are really rare in our family, even if someone actually does remember that it's your birthday.
"We'll have to celebrate your birthday tomorrow," Sam told me, "because we're moving again remember?"
I nodded.
"By the way, is there anything you want?" Dad asked me.
For a second, I locked eyes with Sam. He nodded and gave me a reassuring look.
"Can I have a gun?" I asked Dad hesitantly.
Dad looked surprised that I asked but still responded, "Of course you can kiddo!"
I smiled at him and checked my watch. It was 1:59.
"Can you stay here with Deanna for a while?" Dad asked Sam, "now I have to go get last minute birthday presents and set a few things up with Bobby."
Sam nodded, "I'll text you what to get her from me."
"OK," Dad replied.
He kissed my head goodbye and walked out the door to the car.
