Possibly my first one shot, this one was just under performing and it's really old so I can see why...my newer stuff is a lot better
~~~~~~~~~Such a sad world. Filled with loneliness and pain. Causing us to do such crazy things, desperately, just to feel better. To forget.
Of course, you can't have the bad without the good. One good thing that seems to conquer all is love. Such a concept can't even be described. The feeling is just so amazing. But of course, your world can crash down with just a few simple words.
Matthew has had this mentality for a while. A troubled past which led to terrible things. Now all he could do was sit in a hospital room and wait for his life force to drain away. Silence filled his room daily and all that was heard were the endless sounds the heart monitor made when his heart would keep pumping itself.
He had no reason to live by this point. He couldn't wait until he would take his last breath.
"Always remember that I will always love you." Matthew told the other.
"Don't worry I won't forget." The other responded. "Cross my heart." He said as he crossed his heart as if to hold a promise.
What a lie that turned out to be. What a horrible lie he was led to believe. That was when everything seem okay.
Since then he had become a corrupted soul. With bad decision after bad decision. Regrets filled his head. All this put a strain on his own body, and now he lie here in a lone room of a hospital.
"How could you! I trusted you!"
"You're not listening to-"
"Just fuck off! I don't want to see you ever again!"
The other did was told and left him to collapse and sob. Sob until he just couldn't anymore.What a mistake he had made. So much pain caused by such a simple mistake. Who would think.
He held a picture in his hand. A picture used to always make him smile. Now, he couldn't stand it anymore. The problem was that he just couldn't let himself rip it to shreds. He always found himself staring that picture for hours and not knowing what to do.
That was the situation he was in now.
It seemed like minutes, but before he knew it, it was night.The door was opened but he didn't look assuming it was a doctor. Eventually, he looked up to who it was. It wasn't a doctor. It was him. He breathed in.
"Why are you here?"
"I came to see you and to tell you something."
"What could you possible say that'll make anything better."
"Well..." The other stepped closer and sat in a chair on the side of the bed. "I..." Was that all that came out. Next thing he knew the other was crying. This left Matthew quite shocked. He didn't expect this. "I-I'm sorry." Those simple words came out of the other's mouth and all Matthew could do was sit there in shock. "I am so sorry for everything I did wrong. I know I was the cause of all this..."
"It's fi-"
"It's not fine! I'm the reason you're in the hospital withering away. When I learned you were here I-I...I can't even remember what I did."
"Gilbert." Matthew said sternly gaining the other's attention, "I forgive you. I might as well now before I don't get the chance anymore. If you want you can stay here." The other nodded.
They went on to have a calm conversation until Matthew fell to a deep sleep. All Gilbert could do was watch as the heart monitor slowed. It was a seemingly endless sound.
All he could do was hold Matthew's hand. And watch. As the monitor, finally, stopped.
"I love you." He whispered as tears fell.
