Connie looked down at the letter while she was walking across the beach to Steven's house. For an unknown reason, she had dreaded February 14th. But now she was just confused. Maybe someone would say she looked nice or something, but she never expected and actual love letter.

Connie needed a professional's opinion on things. Knock knock knock. She waited a moment, and then bit her tongue. Thud. A trail of curse words followed the noise. 'Guys I thought you were on a mission, I need some alone time with....CONNIE!' Steven jumped back after opening the door. Not who he thought it was. 'Um..hi Connie! Um come in!' She didn't get one word before he grabbed her arm and pulled her in. 'I got your text. You need to talk to me about something?'

'Oh yeah, um...it was about this.' She handed him the letter. Steven's eyes instantly widened. Without reading it, he shoved it back in Connie's direction, blushing.

'Yeah cool anyway...' He trailed off. Connie decided to change the subject.

'Have you heard that new song?'

'Like, all fifty of them?' That had them laughing until their stomachs hurt.

'Good point..haha..no but shape of you? Have you heard it?'

'No. Sing it.'

'Oh um..hmm...A club isn't the best place to find a lover, so the bar is where I go. Me and my friends....Hey you just did that so I would sing!' She playfully punched him in the shoulder.

The song was everywhere, of course he had heard it. It was actually his favourite at the time. An awkward silence fell over the two. 'Um...wanna have a jam session?' The smile on Connie's face answered the question.

They set up on his bed, guitar in Steven's hands and Connie ready with nothing but her voice. 'What song?' Steven thought for a moment.

'Call on me.'

'But that's a remix...'

'We'll figure it out.' He gave her a reassuring smile.

'No...I...hm...'

'Touch.'

'It's not like that's any easier!'

'No guitar then.' He waited for an answer. She nodded as agreement.

'You and I and nobody else. In to feelings I never felt, the way you got me under your spel....' They trailed off. Without even thinking, Steven kissed her on the cheek.

She gasped and he immediately pulled back. 'I...I am sorry...'

'No Steven it's fine...' She smiled.

'Ok.' They couldn't keep eye contact. Connie stared at the letter. She realised something, grabbing it she scanned her eyes over the writing. She found the part she was looking for.

Thank you for being part of my universe. Then she remembered something.

I want to be apart of your universe, Steven. She looked at the last part.

Happy Valentines Day my Connie. Her memories drew back to the hospital. Keeps your hands off my Connie! She whispered to herself, 'I know who wrote the love letter.'

Her head snapped towards Steven. 'Coonnnieee? Are you ok....whoa!' She tackled him with a hug. 'Uhh...thanks..'

'No, thank you for the letter.' She took her head off his chest to give him a smirk. He realised what she had just said.

'I didn't...I...' There was no use. She knew. He was about to piece together something to say when she started leaning in. 'Connie...?' He whispered. Her lips brushed his.

'Yes, Steven?'

'I wrote it. And I meant every word.' That's all she needed to hear. She closed the gap. The kiss was quick and sweet at first, but that's not how they imagined their first kiss. They went back a second time, with much more passion. Steven used all his strength to stop them from fusing, but that didn't stop his gem from glowing.

It lasted longer then expected, until a familiar voice interrupted. 'Converse was it Amethyst? If so then that ship just sailed.' They both jumped off of the bed at the comment from Garnet.

'Well..hehe..um..' Connie said. Steven wrapped his arm around her shoulders.

'Connie Maheswaran, a member of the crystal gems, a skilled sword fighter, and my best friend. I am asking you in the most polite way I can think of, but anyway, will you be my girlfriend?' She grabbed him by the shoulders and pulled him in for another kiss.

'Yes, yes, yes, yes! Of course I will.' They smiled at each other.

The rest of that day was spent with the gems and lion, doing the funniest and stupidest things they could think of. Connie use to dread Valentine's Day, but she doesn't anymore. Anyway, you can't dread the day of your anniversary.

Sweet and short, crapping writing but hey, I got straight to the point. And quietly fangirled while writing this. 😂😂
