"Make sure you be careful!" Clara, my mother, yelled.
She wasn't much of a mother. She was a binge drinker. One time, she got so drunk she left my father. That was before I was born. I don't quite remember if she knew I was in the womb or not. Anyways, she was a heavy drinker. She also did drugs when I was one. At one point, she even forced it on me. Literally. She made me do drugs when I was about one.
She went to jail though, and I'm pretty sure that was a wake up call. After that, she stopped the drugs and the alcohol. She promised herself that she'd be a better mother.
I guess being a better mother was too much for her. After many court cases, she started drinking again. She even hit me when I told her to stop. I don't even think she regrets it. Maybe she just doesn't remember any of it. Or she doesn't want to own up to her mistakes.
Either way, I can legally say I don't like her. Honestly, I hate her.
"Whatever mom." I bitterly replied.
I grabbed my worn out, faded black bag from the couch she sat on. Before I could snatch it away, she grabbed my arm and pulled me down. Her thin face was now breathing in my ear. "You better be careful." Her cigarette breath lingered by my nose. I coughed it away and took my hand back.
As soon as I walked outside I saw a person sitting on my porch. She was sitting like she didn't have care in the world.
Her hair was hanging down past her stomach, in a fierce red color. Her eyes on the other hand looked soft and elegant. Like a seaweed green. Other people say it's more of an emerald color, but personally I think it looks too elegant to be that green.
"Sorry, Sophie. My mom was being her bitchy self again." I took my hair and twisted it in a bun. The natural blonde highlights shown brightly in the sunlight. It went well with my grey eyes.
"Anyways, we're late. Do you have your dress?"
"Duh. Let's go."
"Wait a second." I froze to the serious tone in her voice.
"What?" I asked.
Sophie got up and walked over to me. "You have to promise me something." she waited for a reply, but after a moment she went on. "You have to kiss Ryder."
"What? No. We've been on one date, and this is our first dance together. I'm not kissing him."
"I had sex with a guy who I just met before. It's not going to kill you to kiss him."
"You also don't have to worry about kids." It's true. She never has to worry. The doctors said her hormones were out of whack, so I guess she can't have kids. It may just be puberty, but for the time being, she doesn't have a care in the world.
"You're not seeing my point." She looked at my hair, then took it out of the bun. "You're gorgeous. Ryder sees that, and he's ready to claim you as his. He doesn't want you to be with anyone else."
"I'm not ready for another relationship though. I'm sure he'll understand." Sophie's expression turned sincere.
"Alright Celeste." She smiled. "Let's hurry. You can get ready in the car."

I walked in my room. It was filled with books that I've been collecting since I was young. Some of them have collected dust from the years of not reading them again. I even forgot the names and plots of some of them.
I thought about reading them again some day, but for now, I'll just keep collecting until one year I decided to read them all again. It would be some time before that, but getting rid of them isn't an option. I would never get rid of the things that'll never break my heart.
I mean, the endings have broke my heart. I get so into them that I feel as if the main characters have that special place in my heart that a girlfriend or sibling should have. To be honest, it's the best thing for me. I have this serious problem of not being committed to a relationship.
What can I say? I'm a teenage boy. I can't settle down.
"Do you have everything?" my best friend, Nicholi, asked.
"Why? We have time." I lifted my tie that was laying on my bed.
"No, we don't. It's past five. We were supposed to be there at five. The girls are probably going to start blowing up our phones."
I shot him a dumbfounded look. "They're not our moms."
"Correction. They're not your mom." I rolled my eyes.
"The girls are probably late anyways. You know how Celeste's mom is."
"I guess so. She's a bitch."
My hand turned into a fist. "Don't talk about Celeste like that."
"I was talking about her mom."
Just then, his bedroom door opened. "Ryder." a women's voice echoed. He could tell it apart from everyone. It was his mother. "Shouldn't you be gone now? The dance started at five." my door was completely open now.
"I'm getting ready."
"Okay, honey. Please be safe. The whole news team is worried. Soldiers are being shipped tomorrow."
"Alright mom. I'll be careful." I smiled.
"Thank you." she walked towards me and kissed my gently on the cheek. "I'll see you later." then she was gone.

"There they are!" Sophie yelled over the music.
I looked over towards Ryder, and he smiled. I smiled back.
Then I see his arms spread as if he wanted a hug. Once he got to me, I circled my arms around his shoulder's. He did the same on my waist. He tightened his grip and then let go. "You look beautiful." He said.
"Thanks." I blushed. "You too."
As if on cue, a slow song came on. "Would you like to dance?" He held out his hand.
"No." I said. Then I burst out laughing. "Yeah, let's go." I slowly grabbed his hand.
~~~~
After hours of sweaty, and slutty dancing the dance ended. I was really hoping she would kiss me. I guess I got my hopes up too high again.
I tousled my hair and went home silently. Nicholi wanted to say something the whole way home, but he hesitated. He knew I wasn't in the mood.
"Talking would be great." I said.
"Why are you so angry? You got to see and be close to Celeste."
"You don't get it do you?" I glanced at Nicholi. "I want her to be mine. I want her to look at me as if I'm her boyfriend."
"She's still getting over you-know-who."
"I know." I tried to keep myself from crying.
It wasn't fair that I had to wait for her. Even though she's worth it. I'd wait forever for Celeste.
