Ryland

"No. We can't trust anyone." Ryland added to the discussion the chairmen and women of Stellara were having. Only fifteen years ago, the five chairmen and women that once ruled Stellara were defeated by Hymneva's forces. That was when they took their places. The five of them sat at a long, dark table in a small room. The walls were painted a very light shade of blue. On the far wall, huge windows let sunlight and ocean air through while the sheer curtains, placed on either side of the windows, moved lightly with the wind. Violet sat across from him, and next to her, Iris. On ether side of him sat Elias and Cayne. These people are and always will be Ryland's closest friends. And now they rule Stellara together. When the five before them were defeated by Hymneva, Stellara's rival country, chaos broke loose. The nation that attacked them had only one intention. That was to destroy them. Bloody wars broke out, people died, their country lived in unrest for months. Finally, Ryland, Elias, Iris, Cyane and Violet were appointed as the five new rulers. They restored peace to Stellara. They thought all the pain and suffering of Hymneva's attacks were over. They thought Hymneva wouldn't bother them again. They thought they could rule the country with peace. Now here they are.

Violet's voice cut through Ryland's thoughts.
"Ryland. Rylan-" she said before he cut her off.
"Yes?" He said, the daydreams fading from his mind.
"You can't tell me you believe there is no one who can destroy it. There has to be someone. Right?" Uncertainty flashed across her face.
"The what?" He asked, confused with what has been said in the past 5 mins of the discussion. He started day dreaming when the conversation hit hour 2.
Violet furrowed her brows and replied slowly, in the tone used for children. "The book?"
His thoughts cleared at the mention of the thing, of the gravity of it.
"Yes. There has to be someone who can. I know there is. I just don't think we can trust anyone until we know for sure they can destroy it. Hymneva is ten times more powerful than us. They are cunning, sinuous, clever people and if we start to trust one of their spies, then we will crumble. Worse, if we give the book to one of their spies to 'destroy' because we think they are from the prophecy, we will do far worse than crumble. So, we need to wait. We need to wait until we know exactly who the person from the prophecy is. After we are sure, we can start trusting the person. We need to be cautious of everyone."
Every eye in the room turned to him.
"We need a way to know who Hymneva's spies are. We need a way into their system. Just as they are trying to find a way into ours. Security should be up at the highest measure. We can't let them have even a taste of more power."
The matter they are discussing is the war that is brewing between their continent, Stellara, and Hymneva. Hymneva is an ancient, powerful country. The nation was created far before Stellara, before they discovered that Colana was their mirror planet. The people of Dianthri are older than almost everything on this planet. Almost everything. There is a race of ancient people. They all perished long ago, but their souls still live on. Possessing the people of Hymneva. Controlling them. The Hymvians think them gods, gifts from the universe. The Soahc.

"The Soahc will do anything to get hold of this planet again. Now that the prince of Hymneva is under their control, we can't trust a living soul. If they do get their rotten hands on that book, it would be horrific. I agree with Ry." Iris stated, her voice steady and confident. The girl always had a relaxed, charming look to her, although her immense power would always show through. She was the type of person you looked at once and knew not to mess with. Iris came from a family where power was valued more than anything else, although she never cared how much she had. Ironically, it was a lot.

Elias stood up next to Ryland, resolve crossing his face and said, "Alright then. It's settled. Hymneva's spy network will be strong. We are to be cautious of everyone who tries to get information about us, or the location of the book. Anyone who attempts to harm us or our country will be done for."
Violet looked up at Elias and attempted to protest. He saw his friend's mouth start to open before she could speak and continued.
"As for the matter of the prophecy" he said with a pointed look at Violet, "We will know when it comes. We are still to be cautious, but we need to trust that it is true. Or else we will all be doomed." Elias ran his eyes over every person sitting at the long table. His eyes met Ryland's, and something resembling fear flashed over them. Just for a second. Then there was not even a trace of the emotion, it's presence replaced by his usual humorous, sarcastic glare. He turned on his heel, then walked right out of the room.
"He's right" Iris declared, then got up and followed him out of the room, her loose white top fluttering behind her.
Cayne said nothing, only faded into thin air, leaving nothing but the fresh scent of magic behind.
