"Do I have to go to high school?" I ask my mom.

"Yes, Jenny. I know it's going to be a very big change, but it is time for you to go to public school.  Viki did it when she was your age." mom says.

"But Viki is a senior in High School. I'm gonna be a Freshman. The low one on the totem pole. The shrimp. Shark bait. I'm gonna get my head shoved in a toilet bowl at school and..."

"Sis. That's not gonna happen. I was your age once. And just because you can see the future, does not mean that people are gonna shove your head in a school toilet. They will most likely flock to you so that they can know what they will grow up to be. Even though we all know that that is not how it works." my sister Viki says to me.

My sister could read people's minds. Which came in handy sometimes, but it could also ruin her day. Viki tended to be either really happy or really depressed based on other people's opinions about her that day. It was really weird. I could see the future. All I had to do was touch somebody, and I could see things about them. Well, things that will happen to them. Sometimes, rarely though, I had visions of a huge life-changing natural disaster. And as much a people asked, I never got visions of World War IV. Or W W III, and you have no idea how often that happened.

"'I wasn't even alive for World War III.'" Viki says, mocking me. "Come on, little sis. We have to get to school."

"Stay out of my head." is my reply.

"Welcome to Freshman Orientation, ladies and gentlemen." A lady says. There are roughly 200 kids in the auditorium at the High School I am attending. Clear Lake High School, CLSH for short. I've heard my sister call it CLASH. I don't know why, but whatever. Right now I am sitting next to a  boy. It makes me awkward, and I'm trying not to touch him. I'm not sure if I will have one of my episodes or not, so better to play it safe.

"Hi! I'm John." the boy next to me says.

"Jenny."

"I am going to start off by saying that this looks like a wonderful group of students. My name is Gennine. I am your principal, Mrs. Reader. A quick reminder to all students, please be nice to all who have powers." Mrs. Reader fades out of my mind, because John is talking again.

"Are you one of the kids who has powers?" he asks curiously.

"Yeah..." I say hesitantly.

"COOL! What's your power?"

"I can see the future." I say vaguely.

"How?"

"I touch a person. It can be kinda scary for the person who's future I'm seeing just because..."

"Come on. I want to go see what my brother's future is." John says.

"Wont we get in trouble for leaving?" I ask.

"No. No one is watching. Trust me." he holds out his hand.

"Okay." I say, thinking that I have a friend. I take John's hand and nothing happens. Lucky me. I think, or weird...
