Eve of the Fox

Chapter 4

I stared at he dead body of my friend, Hayami, laying on the ground. My body was covered in her blood, the crimson liquid dripping from my face. "She's dead." I muttered my voice cool and emotionless. I turned around and walked off Tsubaki following me as we left the body behind. People were staring in fear, they wouldn't remember our faces. I was positive they would forget they would fear for their lives, afraid that if they reported it they would end up just like Hayami.

We arrived at Tsubaki's place and walked into the room all of his subclasses giving us strange looks. "Aiko." I looked up at Sakuya with cold dead eyes. He flinched, "Let's get you cleaned up." I followed after him and went into the bathroom. Sakuya waited outside but I heard Tsubaki calling his name. I hopped into the shower the scalding hot water pounding down onto my skin. I sighed grabbing a rag and squeezing soap on it as I rubbed at my skin till the flesh was raw and red. I let out a deep breath as the now cold water rinsed the soap off of my body. I slowly turned the water off and got dressed. I stared at my hands. They were coated in blood, Hayami's blood. I panicked and furiously started scrubbing at them. No matter how hard I scrubbed the blood just wouldn't come off.

"Aiko stop it!" I turned to see Sakuya standing at the door.

"But it won't come off! No matter how hard I scrub the blood just won't come off." Sakuya seemed startled.

"Blood?" He asked his eyes wide. "Oh Aiko.... you're just hallucinating, calm down please."

"No... this is Hayami's blood I killed her! You don't understand, it was all my fault! I let Tsubaki drink her blood while I just watched. I was event sad, I'm not even sad now I feel no regret... what's wrong with me?" I was now on my knees clutching my head in my hands. "I don't understand." I felt someone kneel down beside me wrapping their arms around my waist pulling me close. With one arm around my waist and the other supporting the back of my head pulling me towards a strong chest. I slowly looked up and was shocked to see Tsubaki. He looked down at me and smiled. We slowly stood back up and Tsubaki released me laughing.

"Huh... not interesting at all." I shook my head to clear my thoughts and stretched walking out of the bathroom.

"WAIT! Aiko please come back! Let me help you!" I didn't stop no matter how many times Sakuya pleaded with me. I guess he got tired of shouting as I felt his soft warm hand grab my wrist. I stopped attempting to pull away but still didn't turn to face him. He pulled my into his chest by my wrist and wrapped his arms around me. "Please. There's nothing wrong with you, this just means that... that you're perfect to be Tsubaki's eve!"

"Tsubaki's perfect eve?"

"Yes! Tsubaki wants war if you can't control your emotions then you're not fit to be his eve, this just means that you're perfect for him!"

"Perfect for him..."

"Yes! Now let's go get something to eat, take our minds off of everything." I nodded now smiling.

"Ya.. well actually I'm going to visit Mahiru. So I'll have to cancel. Maybe some other time." I saw Sakuya's eyes narrow.

"Mahiru?" He asked and I nodded tilting my head to the side as if to ask 'why?'. Sakuya blushed but I ignored it figuring he was just hot, "W-well he's dangerous now that he's an eve. You should be careful. Are you just going to see Mahiru?"

"No. Sleepy Ash, All of Love, Old Child, and their respective eve's will also be there, why?"

"That will put you in even more danger! You should bring a guard! And Tsubaki assigned me to that duty."

"Ya but.... Mahiru knows that you're Tsubaki's subclass. If you're with me he'll know that I have some sort of relation to Tsubaki."

"Fine. Than bring Hiku."

"Hiku?" I asked not remembering a subclass by that name. Sakuya nodded and made some sort of signal. A young boy about my age appeared. He had shoulder length brown hair that was neatly parted in the middle. He has fair skin not to pale, not to tan. Hiku smiled showing off perfect white teeth, they didn't seem to be sharp and looked normal. I smiled, "He's perfect!" Hiku blushed and yet again I just brushed it off. Something must be going around. "Cmon let's go!" I grabbed his wrist and dragged him off.

Hiku and I stood outside of the hot springs. "Should we go in?" Hiku asked and I shook my head.

"Not yet. Okay Hiku you will be my boyfriend. I didn't tell Mahiru I was going to meet him. If we run into them I'll just say I wanted to go to the hot springs. And since you're my boyfriend you decided to pay!" I saw Hiku sweatdrop and dragged him inside. We payed and where on our way to the baths when we ran into Mahiru and Misono.

"What are you doing here? And who's he?" Misono asked aggressively and I titled my head to the side.

"Him? He's my..."

"I'm her boyfriend." Hiku cut me off, "and just who are you?" Getting possessive now are we? I smirked and nodded.

"Ya I wanted to enjoy the hot springs, but I didn't want to pay so I brought Hiku!" I saw Misono and Mahiru sweat dropped when All of Love and Sleepy Ash walked out.

"Whats going on?" All of Love asked,

"Yeah. Gosh you're such a pain." Sleepy Ash added and I sighed.

"Nothing. Me and Hi-chan where just leaving." I grabbed Hiku's wrist and dragged him off. Of course we went to separate baths him in the men's and me in the women's. "Huh... *sigh* Ash is right, this is all so troublesome I could just die."
