When Casey arrived into town, she quickly discovered that there was a Door nearby. Of course she did. What kind of vampire would she be if her nose couldn't detect such a powerful magical device?
Casey quickly navigated around the town to find an outline of a rectangle hidden in a wall in an alleyway. She walked through it. Being non-human, there was no resistance. The space that she'd wandered into was a bar. Inside there was a Minotaur behind the bar, and a goblin standing in front of a door.
That door was exactly the Door that Casey had been looking for.
Noticing the short, black haired vampire, the Minotaur called out, "Hey can I interest you in some halfling blood?"
Casey turned to look directly at him. Though the Minotaur had noticed that she was a vampire, he had not yet noticed her bright red eyes that showed that she'd recently fed on a human being. He didn't say anything as Casey turned away and stalked over to the Door which the goblin guarded.
"Move," Casey commanded.
The small man stepped out of the way and Casey opened the door.
The door led to a large circular white room. Equally spaced apart around the room were four hallways that led away from the room. Along the walls of the massive room were doors. They was exactly 100 Doors of different shapes and sizes and makes. Each of the Doors led to another location on earth. The hallways led to different rooms that led to different planets, and if you went far enough you would find Doors that led to versions of planets in parallel universes. Not all planets had 100 Doors, but every version of Earth did.
Casey looked around and she found the door that she was looking for. It led to the largest city on this version of Earth, a city which contained a Blood Bar, one of her favorite establishments. This door led directly out into an alleyway. Casey had to step over the body of a passed out and ratty looking human. She thought about eating him, but decided against it.
Casey noticed a couple of vampires across the street. She ran across the road, resulting in a couple honked horns. The vampire ignored them, and continued to the couple.
"Hello!" she called out to the pair of vampires holding hands. To the untrained eye they looked to be in their late teens/early twenties, but Casey could tell that they were a couple of decades older than that. Of course, the same mistake could be made about Casey. Although, the guess would be off by centuries, not decades.
At first they ignored Casey, not thinking that she was addressing them. Casey decided to take a peek into their minds in an effort to address them directly, resulting in her yelling, "Yoo-hoo! Gerald! Wassup?"
"Who are you?" asked the guy, Gerald, turning around.
"I'm your new best friend," Casey grinned, putting her arms around the necks of the younger vampires, forcing them to separate their linked hands.
"How did you know his name?" asked the girl, Sadie.
"Little peek in your noggins hope that was alright, dearie. Didn't want to make you have to introduce yourself, that's the boring bit. Though I suppose that I'll have to introduce myself. I'm Casey." Casey spoke fast, smiling all the time. Though the three stood there awkwardly in the middle of the sidewalk, none of the humans did anything other than simply walk around them and go on with their lives.
"Well, Casey," it was Gerald who spoke. "I am going to ask that you go away and leave us alone or I shall be forced to resort to violence."
"Ohh, you don't wanna do that." Casey leaned into his ear and whispered, "You'd looooooose."
"I doubt that." Gerald growled.
"Gerry, calm down, she's just trying to make conversation," Sadie interrupted him, a bit nervous. She could tell that Casey was older them. Among vampires, age brought power.
"See. I just want to talk." Casey said, though she hadn't previously made a point in defense of her actions.
"Casey, I do think that you should let go of him though." Sadie was scared that Casey would crush her boyfriend's neck.
"Alright." Casey dropped the arm which she'd had around Gerald, but kept the other around Sadie. "I apologize, Ger, for my actions. Its been a while since I've seen another vampire. Not sure how long, but still."
"What do you mean by that?" He asked, mildly concerned.
"Can I join you two to the Blood Bar?" Casey asked Sadie, ignoring the other's question.
"Of course." She shot a brief look to Gerald behind Casey's back to ward off any further protest from her boyfriend.
"Thank you. Nice to see that at least one of us has manners." Casey said, then turned to Gerald, "If you're wondering I was referring to Sadie."
"You're being rude-"
"A but but - I never said that I had manners, I said that Sadie did. Com'on Sadie, let's go have a snack."
Neither of the vampires questioned how Casey knew where they were going or why she was behaving this way. In all honesty, Casey didn't know why she was behaving in this manner either. Her best guess was that she simply wanted company.
