Dance moms Fanfiction short story.
Maddie's POV

Every time I saw Josh that day it seemed awkward, kind of like I shouldn't be near him. I know it shouldn't be like that though. I've known him since before I was 6! It's not like I would break up with Cody for him. I love Cody. I only like Josh... Right? Besides, Josh didn't even feel the same way so I had to get over my 'little crush.'
When it came time for lunch, I went outside to Cody's car, where everyone decided we would meet. I was the first one to get there, so I took out my phone and quickly sent Kendall a message. She replied pretty fast.
Maddie: hey ken I heard what happened I'm here if you want 2 talk :(
Kendall: who told you?
Maddie: Cody
Kendall: oh I guess he didn't tell you the whole story then
Maddie: what does that mean?
Kendall: i gtg ttyl at dance :)
I wondered what she meant by 'the whole story.' Before I had enough time to think about it, Josh appeared behind me and I locked my screen so he couldn't read the messages I had just been sending back and forth with Kendall.
"Who you texting?" He accused.
"Nobody." I said pretty fast.
"Maddie's got a secreeeeet!" He teased. "What is it? Failing school? Secret crush? Long lost sister?" Josh continued. His questions seemed pretty unlikely, but the second one stuck with me. Secret crush. I tensed up but hid behind it. "As if, you wish, and my sister is short and, unfortunately, I know where she is." I remarked.
"Whatever you don't have to tell me." He said with a fake hurt look on his face. He hugged me hello and this time it was him who placed a kiss on my cheek, which lasted a moment longer than it probably should have. Did he like me too? I asked myself. No I'm overthinking things it was just an accident. I don't even know if I would want him to like me back.
"Actually... um I was texting Kendall." I admitted. He looked down at the ground and stuffed his hands in his pockets. "Oh. About that...." He trailed off. He got the nerve to continue and he said "I'm sorry."
"To me?" I asked, slightly puzzled about why he was apologizing to me.
"Oh I meant well she's your close friend and uh I don't know."
"Want to tell me the truth?" I said more than asked.
"I'll call you later." He said, once he noticed that the rest of the group was coming towards us. "Kay." I whispered before they got here.
"Hey Paigey! Hey Chlo-Chlo!" I said smiling for no reason. They greeted me with an awkward group hug but it only lasted for about 4 seconds. Everyone piled into Cody's car and I was last in line to squeeze in. There wasn't much room left so I would have to sit on someone's lap because Paige was sitting up front.
"Doesn't someone think we should take two cars?" I asked.
"Wanna ride in my car Mad?" Josh asked.
"No that's okay. Thanks for offering though." I said smiling. "Chloe, Paige, do you guys want to walk with me?" It was only a few minutes away and I needed to talk to them. I told my best friends about everything including ALL boy problems and I wasn't planning on keeping this to myself.
They agreed and we started walking. I hope I didn't upset Josh by turning him down.
Chloe and Paige were rambling on about plans for what we were doing before the next dance competition because it was in California, but I didn't seem to be in the conversation and frankly, I wasn't very interested. All I could think about is how I would tell my two closest friends that I had a huge crush on the one and only Joshua Hyland. And by huge I mean very very very tiny :).
"What's wrong Maddie?" Chloe finally asked when she realized I wasn't paying attention to her and Paige's ever so interesting conversation.
"Can I tell you guys something?" I said after about 30 seconds.
"Anything." Paige simply said.
"Anything is pretty general. I mean... when you say anything you can't mean ANYTHING." I procrastinated.
"Stop stalling Mads spit it out!" Chloe exclaimed.
"Only if you promise you guys won't murder me...." I spoke nervously.
"TELL US!" Shouted Paige a little too loudly. The car that the boys were in passed us and they honked at us when she screamed that and I knew I had to make something up later.
Once they were gone I began explaining.
"So.... Well.... I think.... Maybe... I might.... Kind of..... Like Josh. Okay honestly, I think I love him. And not like a neighborly friendly kind of love."
Paige seemed taken back by my news because of course it was her brother we were talking about. Then she smiled kind of creepily if you ask me. "That's great!!" She shrieked. What planet was she from??
"NO IT IS NOT. I have a boyfriend!" I said.
Her excitement died down. Chloe finally spoke up and said "looks like you're going to have to decide who you need more."
I felt bad because I knew Chloe used to have a big crush on Josh but she assured us millions of times that that was a mistake.
"I just don't know what to do!" I yelled in aggravation. "I just don't know what to do." I repeated in a whisper.

Josh's POV-
We passed the girls on the sidewalk and Cody honked at them as a joke. The windows were rolled down and I couldn't help but over hear my sister Paige yell "TELL US!" In Maddie's face. That had Cody looking over at them with a protective-yet-confused-boyfriend look. I could tell he was curious what Paige meant, but he couldn't be as curious as I was.
Sometimes I wished Maddie and Cody weren't together. I hated admitting it. I kinda liked Maddie. But I kinda liked Kendall too and we all know how well that turned out (note the sarcasm).
I've known Maddie for so long and I've had a crush on her since she was 6 and I was 8. Now she's 15 and I'm 17 and my feelings have only grown. I think it's safe to say I am in love with her.
