"She's dead." I heard those words, not believing them at all. "You are to be her guardian, Death." War told me. She was wearing the stuff she usually wears. Armor. She was wearing a white and golden chestplate, with the golden vines engraved in it. She has golden greaves, and white armored pants with white and white and gold boots. Her boots had a design similar to the chestplate. She had her leafy, golden circlet on. Her large, often used, sword was on her back. "Says who?" I asked, awaiting the answer. War glared at me. "Who do you think, Death? It's your job. You are to protect her, until she turns into one of us. "She growled, annoyed with my tone. I thought about the small girl that was going to be taken into my care. I'm going to have a headache for the longest time. "She's only sixteen, how can she be dead?" I asked, scoffing slightly at the woman. "You really want do know, don't you?" She asked. "Suicide." I whispered to myself, as she finally died. "No friends, no one understood her. It's common. Her mother died the same way." War said, starting to go off topic. I raced out of his palace, waiting at the gates for her spirit to appear. I remember everything about her. She was truly beautiful. I wonder why no one wanted to be her friend. I shouldn't question the Lord's work. I started running my hand through my hair. Why isn't she here yet? I asked myself.
"You left when I was In the middle of talking." War said, approaching me. "I honestly couldn't care less." I said. She closed her wings. They were pure white, with thorny vines draping from them. Her long, brown hair, with a white streak in them, fell to the floor. "You need a haircut, War." I said. "I couldn't care less." She said, mocking me. "I'm surprised you even came." She said, sitting in the golden chair, next to the gates. My palace was far from hers, but when you get a mission, you have to gt it from her. "I just came to get the mission from the Lord, War. Nothing else. I know we were once friends, but that was when we were alive." I said. She stayed silent. "Why do you tell me this when I don't remember? You know, I'm getting a 'student' as well, Death." She said. I snorted slightly. "You're going to snap his neck." I said, aware of who it was.
"And what about the girl, huh?" She asked. She laughed slightly. "How're you going to make an angel of her? She's so rude." War said. I laughed, remembering the girl I watched over. "So am I. I guess we're alike." I said. I never thought of her like that. I never compared her to me. "She's a lot like you, from the stories you've told me."
"She's a clutz." I said. Just as I spoke of the human, she appeared at the gates, with short blonde hair and bright golden eyes. Her dress was white. "Not bad. Love the gold."She smiled, then her line of eyesight moved to War. "NICE ARMOR! The vines... wow..." she smiled wide. Now I realize how contaigous her smile was. "So... hey... you gonna open he gates?" War smiled. I knew these two would be the best of friends. "Touch the gates of heaven." I said, stepping out of the shadows. What? I need a nice intro. "The ultimate test. Go on." I said. She smiled. She reluctantly held out her right hand. It was shaking, but it's natural for stuff like that to happen to her. She lightly touched the golden gates. They opened. She smiled brightly, and I was wondering why such a girl, a smiling girl, would kill herself. "Come on." I said, holding out my hand. She shook her head. "Trust issues. I'll follow behind you." She said. I sighed slightly, but I haven't looked over her in four years. I don't know of any trust issues. Oh well. "At least you remember your past." War smiled at the girl. "Hello. I'm War. My former name was Joanna Dye, but you can just call me War, like everyone else." She smiled. The girl smiled warmly back. "Nice to meet you war. I'm-" She was cut off. "Evangeline. We know. Evangeline Thorne. Nice to finally meet you as well. I'm expecting someone, so Death here can just take you to where you need to go." She said.
EVANGELINE~
I looked over to the man. He had dark clothes, with raven-black hair that shimmered purple under the sunlight. He had a cold personality, from what I could see, and he had a hard stare, with beautiful purple eyes. "Hey, so you're name's Death, right? I have a feeling you don't like me much." I said. He stayed silent. "Follow me, brat." He said. I scowled lightly. "I have a feeling he usually acts like this." I said to War. She nodded, and Death walked off, me following closely behind. I blushed lightly. They must know how I got here. Suicide. Life just wasn't what it had cut out to be. The man I loved to the core had thrown me to the side, literally. My father, for four years, throwing beer bottles at me. I unconsiously felt the scar just behind my ear. I sighed. I slowly lowered my hand from behind my ear, knowing Death had stopped. "This is too slow." He said, and without warning, he lifted me bridal-style, obviously upset about what he had to do, and extended his raven wings, shimmering in the sunlight.
"Hold on." He warned, much to my surprise, and lifted us into the air. I smiled brightly. I took in a deep breath. I didn't even think we would be able to breathe, but we can. "Beautiful." I smiled. I touched a cloud, noticing it had no feeling, but it was fun anyways. "Brat, I told you to hold on!" Death scowled. I looked up to the man. "Brat? I don't think so. My NAME is Evangeline, but you get the amazing privelage of calling me Ev. But if you call me brat one more time, I swear, I will cut you." I said, darkly looking at the angel. He said nothing back. Haha! "We're going to my palace, so treat me with respect." He said. "Shouldn'y I have to say that? I am your guest, after all." I said, looking over the golden and white city, noticing the different castles, and the beautiful people. Sometimes, I'd even see an angel flying past us. The sky was brilliant blue, and if you look hard enough, you could see the stars, just past the clouds. Before I had noticed it, we were slowing, and I had fallen half asleep. "Wake up." Death said, dropping me. "Oh fudge!" I said, before slamming my hands down to catch myself. I looked up to see a beautiful castle. It was dark, not like the white ones I saw in the so-called 'village'. It was wonderful. There were vines on the castle walls. I looked around at the dead plants covering the lawn.
"You need a gardener." I said. "No. I like it this way." He said. He put away his dark wings. I secretly want to leave in the middle of the night and fix things up for him. Who knows? I might. I can tell he isn't okay with th state of this place. Well, with me here, he's going to have to be okay with flowers. I love them. Especially Roses. My mother loved roses, just until the day she died, he loved them. I'm not al all mad at my mother. Even though she committed Suicide, I love her to the point of crying. I was confused, but I have to try to understand my mother as much as I can. I committed sucide because... well you'lll know later.
WAR~!
I sat and waited, a little annoyed and just a tad bit excited to see the person I was taking in. I've never met him before. Usually, Angels get the people they've been looking over since their birth, but I cannot question the Lord's actions. I waited and waited, until a boy, with dark brown hair and dark brown eyes appeared, a little scared. "Ghost, right?" I asked. His name was strange, but I have no right to talk, right? "Yeah?" He asked, forming a queation. I only thought of a sentence for the boy.
"Touch the gate."
DEATH~!
"Anyway, come on." I nodded, remembering her 'trust issues'. She nodded back. I noticed how pretty she was. Golden eyes... No spirit, or angel has ever had golden eyes. Oh, well. She followed me into the house, staring at paintings at the wall occasionally. We walked down the hallway, stopping at a purple-ish door. "This is your room, with clothes and stuff." I said, before leaving the girl at the doorway. "Thanks, Death." She smiled. I caught myself smiling as well. "Yeah. Have a good night." I said. I walked to my room, staring around my room. It changes by the way I feel. I guess I feel curious. This girl has changed me. "How am I going to live with her?" I asked myself, changing into my black pajamas. Change...
It may not be that bad.
WAR~!
"This is your house?" Ghost said, looking up at the palace in front of him. Mine was golden and white, like my armor, and I love it. I had it designed for me. I showed his his room, before walking to mine. I flopped down on my bed, my hair sprawled out on the pillow.
Death was right.
I really do need a haircut.
