Chapter 1

After about 32 hours of driving, my brother and I finally made it to Los Angeles, California. After losing our parents we had to go into the foster care system. Once we got adopted, we were allowed to drive our car and take everything with us to meet our new parents.

" I have to pee and I'm hungry and thirsty. I am going to stop at the gas station up ahead. Did you want anything?" Cole asked me, practically yelling.

I put my hands up and started dropping them, while mouthing that he is too loud. He went deaf in both ears but he is really good at reading lips. Some words he can't make out so I have to help him. I dedicated a lot of time to making him feel better and more comfortable.

"Dr. Pepper please. Pull up to the pump so we can fill the car up." I say tossing my empty Dr. Pepper bottle in the trash.

"Ok. How much money do you want to put in?"

"Twenty" I said as I handed him a twenty dollar bill.

Cole pulled up to the gas pump. He got out and went inside. I got out of the passenger seat and walked over to the pump. I was waiting for Cole to walk out so I could put the pump in the car.

After about five minutes he walked out. He gave me the thumbs up, handed me a map of Los Angeles, and hopped in the passenger seat.

I turned the pump on and went to the front of the car. I put the map on the hood and started looking for the address of our new home.

"Excuse me but are you new around here" some guy said behind me.

I turned around to see a guy with brown hair, khaki pants, and a white t-shirt that showed his abs. He is hot.

"Yes. Yes I am. You?" I said with a smile.

"No. Ummm... I actually got to school at the University High School."

"Sweet. That's where me and my brother are going as well" I said while pointing at my brother.

"Sorry. My name is Taylor. You?"

"Max." I said while reaching out my hand.

"That's a beautiful name. From what I can see it fits you very well." I blushed and smiled at him.

He has the cutest smile ever. Perfect teeth. Perfect... everything.

"Thanks. Actually, can I ask a favor."

"Yeah. Anything. But you will have to make it up to me. Promise?"

"Promise. Do you know how to get to this address by chance?" I said showing him my phone.

He gets a big grin on his face. "Yes. What a coincidence. That's right next door to where I live!"

"Hey Taylor. Dude come on." Some of, what I presume are his friends are calling from across the parking lot. So he shows the directions. Good thing I turned my voice recorder on. I wouldn't have been able to remember it all. The other reason I recorded his voice without him knowing is because I like his voice. He has a very sexy voice.

I folded up the map and we said 'goodbye' to each other. I take the pump out of the car and put it back where it belongs. I then hop in the drivers side of the vehicle, buckle, and turn the car on.

We are now on our way to our new home.
