Selene's POV

People always say that everything happens for a reason. That who you meet and your experiences are never a coincidence. I would have never believed any of that nonsense, but sometimes life can surprise the heck out of you and really do a number on your perception of life. One day you think that you live an ordinary human life, full of drama and stress with some good moments in between, then WHAM suddenly you're smack dab stuck in the middle of a rising werewolf war. Yeah I never saw this coming. To think this all started with that one fateful day.

10 years earlier*

Frozen shivers racked my body, assaulting my poor senses. I was so stupid to not head my parent's warnings. I was only supposed to stay right in front of the house where they could see me, but I couldn't help my curious nature and I decided to go on an adventure. When I set out the sun was still shining on the beautifully pure white snow, but looking at it now you would've never guessed it. A dark blanket covered the sky as the wind hailed strong whipping winds and snow. The temperature seemed to have gone down as well a couple 20 degrees or so, making my ill equipped self subject to Mother Nature's temper tantrum. I tried to call out for help, but it wasn't helping. I was only wasting my energy and I needed to try and conserve it. Everywhere I turned it was the same. Snow, snow and more snow. My eyes stung from the intensity and I could hardly feel my face, legs or hands. I had no idea what to do. My parents never told me I would probably get stuck in a blizzard on our skiing trip.

Raising a trembling gloved hand I tried to wipe away the tears from my eyes, but it was no use. I was blinded by the snow and cold. Deciding to just give it a rest I dropped to the floor and tried to hug myself as tight as possible. All I could hear was the angry shouts of the wind and I desperately wished someone would find me. Sobs tore throughout my body. I didn't want to die.

Just then a wet smooth substance rubbed itself on my cheek. I screamed and shot up, my eyes wide. I fell back down from the sudden movement and my body protested in pain. I tried seeing what had touched me, but it was no use. Trying to cover my face as much as possible to block the snow coming into my eyes I heard something over the roar of the wind. It was distant, but I definitely heard something. Did someone find me? The sound got louder and soon loud barks could be heard over the elements. I froze thinking a large animal had found me and wanted to have me for dinner. The barking was consistent and soon I thought I could feel something grab my hand. I couldn't really tell though as I pretty much lost feeling to most of my body.

The feeling tugged on my arms as if urging me to move. I stumbled a bit, but after two steps I fell to the ground in a heap. I couldn't move. My body was frozen. Mom, dad someone help me! The last thing I thought I saw before blacking out were a pair of deep green eyes.

When I came to there was a large fire right beside me providing warmth to my whole body. I scooted closer wanting to soak up all the heat I could. My body protested and I groaned out loud in pain. What happened to me? I tried looking around, but even moving my neck hurt too. A loud yip suddenly ringed out and a black wolf approached me slowly. I think my heart just about stopped at that moment. I was alone in what looked like to be a cave and there was a wolf right in front of me probably ready to eat my guts out. I quickly wrapped my arms around my head, the pain forgotten and said quiet prayers hoping God would save me from such a cruel fate. The wolf yipped again, but this time it sounded so much closer. I squeezed my eyes tight afraid to look.

Something soft and wet suddenly rubbed itself on the side of my head. What? I cautiously lowered my hands and peaked. The wolf was looking at me expectantly and sat on its hind legs. "G-g-good wo-wol-wolf." I hesitantly said, my voice hoarse from lack of water. I tried to scoot away, but the wolf suddenly got up and growled lowly. I immediately stopped and stared at the wolf. It simply stared back, then when it was sure I wouldn't move again it sat back on its hind legs.
