Part 6:

The dress Joey had chosen for me was beautiful; it was a little black dress that fell just above my knee with slits cut out of the sides. He had also picked out a pair of red pumps for me to wear. I decided to complete the look with a smoky eye and red lipstick, then arrange my hair into a curled updo. Lastly, I grabbed my red clutch and deposited my wallet, my cell phone, and a few makeup essentials. By the time I was done getting ready it was 7:45, Joey had said to meet him in the kitchen at 8, so I figured I would just check Instagram, Twitter, and Tumblr before meeting him.

When it was finally 8, I made my way out to the kitchen where Joey was busy vlogging, he didn't notice me because he was facing the other way.

"Well hello there everyone, I'm just getting ready to take Scarlet out on a surprise date, so I'm going to go ahead and end the vlog here and I will see you guys tomorrow, may the odds be ever in your favor, good bye!"

I decided it would be fun to sneak up and scare Joey, so while he was fumbling around on his camera, I quietly came up behind him and put my hands over his eyes.

"Guess who," I said in my best seductive voice, hoping to turn him on a bit.

He pulled my hands down gently and spun me around. His jaw dropped, I hoped that was a good thing. He looked so handsome. He was wearing a pair of khaki colored skinnies and a red button up short sleeved shirt.

"God, you're beautiful."

"Thank you," I blushed. "You look handsome. Where are we going?"

"That's a surprise."

He laced his arm with mine and we walked downstairs and went outside to his car.

It was 3 A.M. by the time we finally got home. Although it wasn't the classiest date, it had been one of the best nights of my life. I knew it would be hell when I woke up the next morning though; he had taken me clubbing. Even though I only had a few glasses of champagne, it didn't take much to get me drunk. Joey on the other hand was only a little tipsy.

When we walked into our apartment Joey helped me to my room. I didn't think I was going to be able to get undressed and take a shower by myself, but I wasn't sure how to ask Joey for help. He must have noticed the look on my face, because he sat down on the bed next to me and began to take off my shoes for me.

After my shoes were off he stood me up and unzipped the back of my new dress, revealing my strapless lace bra from Victoria's Secret and my lace underwear. I became self conscious; I knew I still had my underwear and bra on, but what if he didn't think I was beautiful anymore?

He pulled the dress down over my hips and lifted me out of it. Next he took my hair out of it's- now messy- updo, then ran his hands through it to rid the tangles.

"I'd say we should wait until tomorrow to get you in the shower, it's late and I don't know if you could handle that. Let me get you some pajamas, where do you keep them?"

Just then the thought occurred to me, I didn't have any clean pajamas. I had intended to do laundry today, but I must have forgotten. Crap.

"I actually meant to do laundry today, I don't have any clean.."

"Say no more, I'll be right back."

I watched him walk out of the bedroom and as I waited for him to return I thought of how lucky I was to have him. He wasn't the first person I had dated, but he was the best person I had dated. The other guys had been focused on late night make out sessions in the car after a cheap date to the town's bar. I could tell Joey wasn't like that, and I was so glad that he hadn't gotten me drunk and then left me alone to fend for myself.

Any of the other guys I had dated would have used this situation to take advantage of me; luckily I had never been in this situation with the others, which meant that I was- thankfully- still a virgin. I knew Joey wouldn't try to change that unless I wanted to.

He returned holding one of his fitted tees, I assumed those were the only t-shirts that he had. He helped me stand up and then he pulled it over my head and spun me around slowly.

"I like the way you look in my clothes,' he laughed.

"Joey?"

I didn't want to be alone in my bedroom tonight. I needed him to be next to me, because I feared that if he wasn't then I might not have him in the morning. It was a weird feeling that I couldn't exactly explain, I just knew I needed him to stay with me.

"Yes?"

"Would you sleep in here with me, just for tonight?"

"Of course, anything for you." He then went into his bedroom, once again, to change into his own pajamas, which consisted of a pair of Nike shorts and no shirt.

***

Just as I was falling asleep Joey leaned over and kissed my forehead. He must have thought I was asleep because he then whispered "I'm in love with you."

I didn't respond, because I knew he probably wouldn't have said that so soon if he hadn't thought that I was asleep already, but in my mind I couldn't help but think, "I'm in love with you too."

***

The next thing I knew, it was 9 in the morning and I felt like absolute crap. Suddenly, I got a terrible pain in my stomach and I could tell I was going to throw up, so I ran to the bathroom hoping I wouldn't wake Joey, who was peacefully sleeping in my bed still.

I must have thrown up at least 5 times, and it hurt so badly, like a stinging feeling in my lower abdomen. On my sixth time, I felt Joey gather my hair into a makeshift ponytail with one hand, and the other hand was on my back rubbing small circles. I was grateful to have him here with me, but I was also slightly embarrassed for him to see me vomiting my guts out.

When I was finally done, he wiped my mouth off with a cold washcloth and then pulled me into his chest, wrapping his arms tightly around me, one hand on my back and the other in my hair. I started to cry, not only because I felt terrible but also because I was sort of scared that Joey would be mad at me for waking him up like this.

"Oh, sweetheart. I'm so sorry you're sick. I shouldn't have let you drink so much champagne last night, this is all my fault."

"No, Joey, it's not your fault at all. Are you mad that I woke you up," I sobbed into his chest.

He pulled away so that he could look into my eyes.

"I could never be mad at you, especially for this. You didn't mean to wake me up, you're sick. It's no big deal, I can sleep anytime. Let me take care of you, honey."

He carried me bridal style into his bedroom and laid me down on his bed, pulling the covers over me. I liked his bed, it smelt like him, not his cologne, but his natural scent that I loved.

He walked over to the other side of the bed and crawled in next to me, taking me back into his arms. Although I was sick, it still felt nice to have him taking care of me.
