Chapter 5

Now that I was free and have some time on my hand before I attempt to go out on my next mission, I needed to go visit my mom. I haven't seen her in maybe about a month and I know that she and my rest of family were just so impatient to see me again. They always wanted to move back in with them but because of Sheldon I couldn't exactly do that even when I would have loved to at times. Now that he's gone and no longer around to stop me, I don't see what's keeping me from seeing if the offer still stands and possible take them up on it. I no longer have any desire to stay in the apartment anymore. If I was to start a new page in my life, I needed to start fresh and that would mean giving up the apartment and everything linked to Sheldon.

I also planned to visit my father and his wife. I know that if I go see them they'd be overjoyed and I could use that opportunity to get a car from them. I had gotten an offer for a car before from Ivana and her daughter Claire but I had no choice but to turned it down because Sheldon didn't want me to have my own car. You see how much of a pain that guy was in my life? No wonder I still don't feel any form of guilt or remorse about getting rid of him. I'm glad that he's now out of the way, I can finally try to pick up the pieces and get whatever I desire but first I'd have to clean up a mess he created. I needed to get back that diamond or at least get the money he got from it. While packing my bag I heard my phone ringing, at first I thought about letting it go to voicemail but then I thought what if it was Mom?

"Hello?" I answered hastily before it stopped ringing.

"Hello, good day is this Ms.Scarlet Clarke?"

"Yes, this is she" I responded knitting my brows in confusion at who the person was on the other end.

"This is officer Malinga calling from the NYPD, in regards to your boyfriend Sheldon O'Connor. We can't seem to find any information about his current whereabouts though we think that may have something to do with him being wanted for burglary. I'm afraid we're going to need to arrest him as soon as we find him. We need you to contact us if he contacted you"

"I... I understand" I responded.

"If he does contact you and you don't let us know, I'm afraid that we're going to have to arrest you as well for harbouring and covering up for a fugitive" The officer said to me.
